Does anyone know who the attorney was who is named in the Palm Beach Post article linked in 'x's post on July 18?
i recieved one call from a man named josh, suppose to be working with the housing authority trying to help me reduce my mortagage rate, thru the "stimulus " program. I was told to fax forms and id necessary for reducing the rate.when i tired to call him back to ask a question i noticed the NUMBER was unknown,I called it anyway and was told the number was no longer working. Therefore I didnt follow thru with the request that he asked me, I was supossed to fax some forms to him from "Staples".He said he was also sending me some forms. I gave him some financial info about myself but I am not sending the forms he requested,I felt something just didnt feel right. His fax #was 866-211-9101.
Loan modification, sounds too good to be true. A man named Thomas Valbrun said that he could modify my 30 year fixed loan with BOA from 7% to 3.75%. After call he emailed me documents to sign and fax back with a money order or certified bank check for 2800. Did a little research and found that only State approved attorneys and licensed DRE brokers can legally modify your loan. Not sure they are that. Letter head in email says 'Housing Assistance Inc.', and 'The Hall Firm, LLC'. with an address in Boca Raton, FL. Going to print what they emailed me and go in to Bank of America and ask them if this is legit or no.
Why does a lawyer, who is suppose to be so smart get so stupid ? There was other lawyer's in the mix, Karen Grun and what about the Hall Law Firm ? What's going on with all the rest who got caught up in the Vitulano web of crime ??????????
We have recieved the same phone and we have been trying to do research on this company but really found nothing and was wondering if you have found out anything. Like you said it sounds to good to be true!!
Going to the bank to ask if the program is legit (whether it really is or not) is not the most logical way to go about it...being that more than likely your bank will say "absolutely not it is impossible" because it would equal money out of their own pocket if it were to be true... Banks are PART of the reason people are in these situations so what makes them think the banks will truly help... more importantly, is the teller @ your bank who is making $8-$12hr really qualified and updated on Foreclosure Rescue Scam Prevention? Probably not.. Go with your instinct.. Only attorneys actively involved in the process can collect upfront fees..that being said look up their attorney's credentials and go from there..i doubt the attorney would want to lose his license for 2800 :) I have been contacted by numerous agencies, half which were easy to see through..a mom n pop operation is not the most comforting scenario..if the company is using a dialer ($$$) more than likely they are doing business on a larger scale and therefore would have been shut down if they were scamming with such volume.I have still not made my decision as to which way to go. One thing i know is working with my lender is next to impossible. The deal they offered me was insulting... i know there are legitimate companies out there mainly because for every scam artist- there is a legitimate company/process in which they are imitating. Btw - i looked up The Hall Firm and they DO exist..Barry Hall is registered in the NY Unified Court system which seems to be a gvt website - no way around that... I would like to contact them...do i call the Hall Firm or Housing Assistance? or is it the same thing?? help please thanks in advance
Just an FYI about this absurd comment posted below by Mitch H. I have in my posession the articles of incorporation for Housing Assistance Law Center PA, Karen Grun Director. it was filed on APRIL 7, 2009. Your message indicates that you got your loan handled in 41 days. That means you would have had to have started with them the day the incorporated and then to have written the message on or after May 18, 2009. Apparently that is not the case, buddy. You must be one of Ms. Grun's children.
