As everyone has figured out by now, these are very annoying and useless calls trying to Phish information from you. God help you if you fell into their stupid tactics, I hope that in 2014 no one is so gullible. For you Guys in Vancouver BC Canada, I have an approximate location of the source of these calls, although not confirmed, it seems to be the headquarters of the server or phone number that calls. Maybe you should pass that on to your Local RCMP Fraud Squad. Leave a message here and I will try and forward their location to you. Thanks’ for your help if you can do something.FYI, if you get calls from 604-251-1333 or many other 604 area calls that can change daily and, if you are not sure who called you, don’t bother to even post a reply to this site. Report the number to your local RCMP in Canada, as a Fraud and Phishing scam or, if you are in the USA, report them to your Local authorities which should decide if the FSA should keep a track of all your received calls from these [***] holes!
Just Google this number and look it up on Google Earth Maps and satellite images. it will give you an approximate location for these sickos. From there you can do what you have to do. I would call the Cops in a heart beat.
Just got a call from this number and I talked to a rep. to find out where they got my credit card info from--and how they knew any information about how much was on my cards?? When I started with more questions about this they hung up on me, tried re-dialing and the operator said my call couldn't be completed as dialed!Sounds like a scam to me!!!
If they want my credit card info, they can have it, cause I get more calls from a collection agency than these [***] holes. If they want to pick up the bill and answer the calls from the collection agency I would be pleased to get them in contact with the bill collectors. Otherwise they are wasting their time calling here.
I tried calling back, to no avail, because I wanted to let the jerk know that I wanted him dead. Rats!!
We are not being racist when we say this could be in India or Pakistan. (Or Russia, which is another biggie.) The very reason these calls are not covered by the "Do Not Call" status is that DNC can only apply to people calling from INSIDE CANADA. So scammers happily outsource to foreign countries, which get their calls routed through temporary numbers rented from Rogers or Bell or Telus etc. We can't stop them.I NEVER pick up my phone any more unless there's a name identified on my call display.
I have rec'd this call many times. Tonight I decided to play their game. The guy told me I have a Visa and M/C and he said is company "Card Services" can provide lower interest rates. from 19.99% to 11%. He said he has my profile on his computer and need some info in order to proceed for the discounts. He ask for the last 8 digits of my CC. I said No this personnal and if you know them tell me and will confirm.then he said he can't it is confidential, he then ask for my expiry date on CC? I told him that's mine.He said OK, Do you really want rate reduction? Then give me your birthdate? Wow I said were are you calling from? he said Dallas, Taxas USA. I cut him short and ask him his phone # so I could call him back. The reply was help me, I do not want to loose my job give me your last digit and then will give you phone #. Then is asked for SPV he trsf me and the other clerk repeat the above. I hang up and dial *69 to find out 604-261-1333, in Google it say it belong to Richmond, B.C. Canada?? way from Texas I guess. I suspect they are calling from a MagicJack devise. Anyhow I reported them to Bank of Montreal Master Card and they said it was a Scam. Good luck everybody but do not disclose you offer just tease them its like fising
It's frustrating, I agree. But do you really expect scammer companies to download the DNC registry from the government and actually use it?That they don't is not the fault of the DNC. Any reasonably savvy tech geek with access to the internet can buy a few used IP phones off eBay, set up Asterisk on a PC and get an account with a VoIP provider and set up a working phone system. In fact, I do this for my home phone lines, but how would you suggest that that government stop scammers from doing that very same thing without affecting legitimate usage like mine?
