Missed call. Every day now for the past couple of weeks. Finally called it back and automation asked for AmEx acct #. Stayed on line until guy came on. Gave my name & nothing came up so he asked for SSN or acct #. Told him absolutely not. gave him ph# only & told not to call again. He said it may take 3 - 5 days to get # out of system.

I got this call a few days ago, and a call from a different number that has similar reports about it. I do not even have an AMEX card!

This # called my home phone and said it was from AZ. I hit the reject button as I won't answer unknown #'s. It immediately called my work phone next. No voicemails on either. Called back and it says, "Thanks for calling American Express, please enter your account # now." No way this is for real.

Well, I don't know what to believe about this number. They claimed that a fraudulent charge was made on my Amex card, that they were cancelling the card. Then they wanted me to talk to their "card replacement team", who then wanted personal info I refused to supply. When I called the actual Amex number on the back of the card, they reported that, yes a fraudulent charge was attempted and they were cancelling my card, but this time the "replacement team" didn't need any personal info. MY ADVICE: NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFO TO INCOMING CALLS; ALWAYS CALL THEM VIA NUMBERS ON THE BACK OF THE CARD, NOT ANY OTHER NUMBERS.

these people are scammers dont give them any info just tell them to give you there info and see how they like that or tell them you will call amex your self.

After seeing the comments on this number I did not call them back. I did call my 1 800 number for American Express..No the same people.

Got this call this morning and looked it up before answering. I have devoted a 1.5 minute message just to irritate collectors and I love it that I can check this sight before answering the phone. So many people complain of being terrorized by collectors,in this day and age,you simply let them fill up your voice mail. They can't terrorize you if you don't answer. Said they were calling about our Amex, which is behind due to me fat fingering the payment info and paying less on accident one month. Actual Amex people have been wonderful about repayment (probably because we spend a lot on the card and have had it forever). We have been told by American Express not to talk to these people but to discuss our card matters directly with them.
