This one is just the usual scamming low-life credit card thief but at least you get a real person to talk to. What's worse is the 50 or so "Unavailable" calls I've had this week. You can't answer them (immediate disconnect), no message of course and there's no possible way I know of to block it. It's a relief to get these b*astards instead.
Just got a call .There was no one on the other end. I just blocked the pho. no. to bring the total to 6.
I too have been receiving similar calls, but most time I can prevent the same caller from calling, by using my call blocking feature, provided by my telephone provider.I was able to block this one as well.I am with Bell/Aliant, so all I do is dial *60, the automated voice will instruct you how to activate the service.I also know that there are other service providers that allow you to block nuisance calls like Eastlink.After you have set it up, the voice asks if you would like to block the last caller, by keying in #01#, alternatively you can just key in the number.There is a limit on the number of calls, you can block, probably around 10.
I also tried to block using Bell/Aliant, but they advised they don't have such a feature. Too bad, we were with Rogers before and it was so easy to block unwanted callers. I recently purchased new Panasonic phones with call blocker built in. It will block up to 250 numbers at a cost of $149 for 5 phones including the base unit. One of the best purchases I've made lately. I first tried a separate call blocker unit (CPR) but it would not work with the Aliant phone system so I returned it.
Heather, who is the canned talk person ,is a pain in the "you know where". Surely our illustrious government could cut her off with a big fine, if she is calling from Canada. If it is from the USA we can't touch them.
Person called and knew my friends name. Was an actual person calling. I told them they had the wrong number. Then they started asking me to verify. I hung up. Wth???
