Im a little late to the game here, so apologies if you already found out, but that certainly wont work. Even though scammers and telemarketers are annoying, they're not dumb. Everybody knows life isn't like an episode of 24 where police departments are just tapped into and recording random residential numbers, tracing callers who are soliciting for breast cancer donations.

Be aware that some calls from solicitors are actually from police or government agencies. They have equipment that enables them to have ANY number show up on the caller ID, often using the numbers of telemarketing firms, Canadian and other online pharmacies, disconnected or out of service, Pre3ss 9 to be removed from list, et cetera. This way, when the "mark" calls the number back, they get the chosen contact, making it appear to be a harmless call. The fact is, answering these calls or calling them back will allow the government agency to have full access to your telephone. They will be able to listen and record all conversations, along with having your IMs, pictures, and videos, They will have access to your telephone directory and all other information stored on you telephone or computer. From that date on, they will be able to track your exact location, in addition to having a history of everywhere you go and how long you stay - and often what you say and do via the phones microphone. The telephones - like computers - can be turned on remotely to serve as a microphone and transmitter, so they can hear the conversations that you and others are having. The phone and computer can also transmit live video streams from your location - even when they appear to be turned off. This is why some people cover the camera lens on their computers with a band-aid or tape. There is much more to this, and though it sounds paranoid and bizarre, unfortunately it is all too real, thanks - in part - to the unpatriotic Patriot Act. George Orwell would be shocked at how much further governments have taken spying on and harassing innocent civilians than what he noted in his book, "1984."

Called me at 8:30 pm. Do not know anyone from vegas. The man knew my name. Asked for a donation for state troopers. I said "no thank you", he continued to ask for a smaller donation.
