Not a scam. It's a collect calling company that services jails all over the country. Friend got a DUI. Don't leave your homies in jail.
The "automated" message that I got was this was a call from an inmate at our local jail and the person said their name. The message continued with, if I wish to accept the call to press 1, to not accept the call hang up, and if I wished to not receive calls from the jail to press 8.Caller ID stated: Global Tel Link
I recived an unwanted call from this number at 10:48 this morning the person was asking for personal info and names. person said his name was lamil or jamil.
713-981-0098 Called four times between 2 & 2:30 am on the second line into our office. Each message was a recording, just partial, that said something like press whatever or hang up.
This is 100% a scam, they try to tell you to hurry up and that your family member is in jail or something along those lines, they then give you an inmate number and telephone number, they gave me inmate #2311496 then told me to call *72 1323 802 3854, notice the Star 72, if you dial that number you're pretty much giving up your phone to criminals.I was really suspicious abou the *72 number so I googled it, do not call the number.
this is a jail or county fron texas,mostly for people being detain to be deported but this number does not state what jail it is iam trying to find out want jail this number is from out of texas i know one of my love one prombley is incarcerated there.
got a call from 713-981-0098, which i didn't answer. Voice mail says that someone in San Mateo County Jail is trying to make a collect call. It sounds very official, except San Mateo's area code is 650. Person making the call is misrepresenting the jail and I have the recording and wonder if FTC can track the idiot who has this number and take legal action for misrepresenting an establishment.In short, it messed up my day and I'm pretty upset.

Just received a call from this number 713-981-0098 about wanting to except a collect call. My number is unlisted. How did they get my number in the first place? These High Tech Company's selling your Information!!!!!!!!!!!! It needs to be stopped. They are as bad as the thieves trying to use the information they get from these High Tech Company's.
