My oldest son is currently in a Texas county jail awaiting trial. My younger son said I would be receiving collect calls from him and to accept them. It is the Global Tel Link 713-981-0098 number but the recorded message just says if I want to take the call it will be $4 a minute and to accept press the 0 key. I've never been prompted to press any other keys or to give credit card info. It is expensive, but it's charged directly to our Embarq phone bill. We have a land line as well as cell phones and my son calls the land line only. Maybe the scam just targets cell phones and not actual phone lines. He says he has to call from a cell phone, which is stupid because I can barely understand what he's saying. I would make more sense to let them call from a land line. I will keep in mind about the scam, though, in case something fishy happens.
I just received a call from 713 981-0098 and a person stated that I should call a sargent called Newton Medina -220-2060 at *72 323and they gave me a booking number 2451563. The seemed to have a heavy African accent. The call was about $10.00. Afterwards, my phone started ringing (once) and i would pick up and nothing, it seemed someone was using my line. Please, I need to know how can I disconnect that...
Received several calls today from a jail that is a Texas jail but located in Columba's OH. Further investigation finally showed it is a scam. Phone number 713-489-7846. The internet investigation said to get on www.connect.com which wanted me to give credit card info to them to pay for prisioner collect calls

Got a call from this same number from Texas. I don't know a soul in Texas. Then got a voice mail from some Spanish speaking guy then the automatic voice machine to say it's for a correction facility press certain number for accept or reject
got this unsolicited call that asked me to set up a collect call account. it seems like a lot of people here think it's from the prison system. well, i don't have anyone that has ever been or is currently in prison. report this company. some [***] driving around a porsche by stealing your money.
