Samething yesterday MLK day of all days! But called my cell and it had a message... I have 3 boys-2 old enough to BE in jail (not that EVER would be!) but you never know... so I am FRANTIC trying to call my 2 older boys to see where they are at. I call the County Jail in San Diego and she tells me it is a SCAM and NEVER EVER give out your CC info if you don't know the person. There was NO name when they called collect so I had no clue who it was. She told me that if it is someone that you know they WILL say their name on the message. ALSO that once you put your CC info in that that inmate can LOCK that number in and use it for collect calls and food and things! SO NEVER EVER give out your cc or ANY personal info.. Thanks to everyone taking the time to post their situation! without this I may have never known this number was a SCAM.

Global TelLink is the company. It is a collect call systems for inmates in a correctional facility. They're used for a lot of prisons across the country -- its a collect call system.

The people replying that this is not a scam is most likely the same people who are attempting the scam. I answered the call the first time. First of all, I don't know anyone from Texas. Second I was a little concerned about the detention call so I followed the prompts and when I heard the credit card payment I hung up. Whatever system it uses knows when you respond to the prompt. It knows when you push the digits and it does not stop calling until you block it or turn your phone off. I received a total of 12 calls within a half hour. My voice mail picked up all calls and it was the same messages. I blocked the number and turned off the phone. I called my closest family, relatives and friends to confirm if anyone was in trouble. All good. Then I called Denver County Detention and he clearly had no clue what I was talking about. Just use your instincts. If it doesn't seem right get away from the situation. Just block the call or hang up. I still feel odd about the situation. I may just get a new number and carrier all together. These scammers can probably tap into my phone and steal information.

Linda-I would call the credit card company u used to put in and let them know that you might have been part of a scam and to STOP all transactions... read my post as to what the Sheriff told me about this scam! Sorry you have to go through this!

is a collect call from a prisoner.....got one last week and accepted the charges to find out it was a wrong number and the kid wanted me to make a three way call for him.

I never gave a credit card! I accepted the collect call. This person hijacked my ph but i caught it before any damage occured! :)

713-981-0098 is from a prison system, i get calls from that # from a friend in the Virginia prison system.

I got on my cell phone from 713-981-0098 didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it. They left a recorded message about an inmate from the correctional institute and if I wants to accept the call I would have to set up an account using a CC if I didn't want to acceptJust hang up. I tried calling the number back and it was a busy signal. Defiantly a scam something is not right and how did they get my #?

I received a call from this number but coudnt find out who it was from.. Got me worried!
