Some phones have a thing were you can use a fake number and call using that number. Its really annoying so you all aren't alone.
I get calls frequently from this number, Medco, which is legitimate (though annoying!!).... My husband's company has their Prescription Drug ID through Medco and our insurance. Medco is new to us for 2012 (replaced another company), and that's why we've started receiving the calls. This is to allay the aforementioned fears of the call being from a bogus caller.... Not true. Just annoying, for sure.
I keep getting the same number 772-335-4498 calling me every other day. Weekends as well. I answered the call a few times with no one on the other end. Just the other day a woman stated they were MedCo. This is the company who manages my prescription plan provided by my employer. They asked to speak with my wife which I though was unusual since I am the one who is the main insured. I stated that she is not the insured and they stated my name. They asked me for security purposes to speak further with me to provide my DOB and address. I simply told them I was not providing any information and that they should have on file. I told them if they ask me specifically the information they have on file to confirm I will but I was not providing it to them. I told them if they need confirmation of anything send it in writing and I hung up. Still get calls with no one on the other end. I would be cautious to provide any info as people can use programs to alter the caller ID they are calling from.
If this is an insurance company or pharmacy why are they doing buisness after 10pm ? I received a call from this company at 10:30 pm last night and my caller id shows 5 calls in one day. Does anyone know who you can report this number to?
I agree that you should ask to be removed if you do not want to be offered generic drugs but with that said it would be nice if the system they use to repeatedly call you would come up in caller ID as MedCo. They also should have the system leave a voice message if you do not answer as why they were making the call. I think it would resolve a lot of concerns to the validity of the call and not require the constant-almost harassing numerous calls.
Here is the information ATT gave me to go to, It is from the Federal Goverment Do not Call Registry;Do Not Call Registrations Permanent and Fees Telemarketers Pay to Access Registry Set Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. More than 157 million phone numbers are on the National Do Not Call Registry.Under the Act, the Federal Trade Commission will continue to remove telephone numbers that have been disconnected and reassigned to other customers. Consumers can delete their telephone numbers from the registry at any time by calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) – the call must be made from the telephone number they wish to delete. The Do-Not-Call Fee Extension Act of 2007 also was enacted, setting the annual fees telemarketers will pay to access the registry in fiscal year 2009 at $54 for each area code of data accessed or $14,850 for access to every area code in the registry, whichever is less. Telemarketers may access the first 5 area codes of data at no charge, and certain exempt organizations will continue to access all data at no charge. For each fiscal year beginning after fiscal year 2009, the fees will be increased at the rate of change of the consumer price index, unless the change is less than 1 percent, in which case the fees will not be adjusted.TO REGISTER YOUR NUMBER: Online: www.donotcall.govPhone: 1-888-382-1222
Received a call from this number today. Rep said she was from Medco, my prescription drug provider. Wanted to give me information about some benefits I'm not currently using, and said the call may be recorded. She wanted to, for my personal privacy, ensure I am who I say I am (even though she called me !?!), and wanted my date of birth or some other piece of info (I can't remember what). I told her that since I didn't initiate the call, I couldn't be sure she was who she said she was, and hung up. When I rang the number back, the automated voice did identify the place as Medco, but this is the first call I've received from them.
Cell phone rings 2 or 3 times. By time I answer no one there. Call back and get a busy signal. This happens several times a week. Phone is from St. Lucie(?) Florida.
