Our higher managment recieved a call from Cedar publishing. As per company policy, he asked to have this information for an ad to be sent by email for review. They claimed they could only send by fax.. which was fine. We returned the fax with a bolded note suggesting we did not want the ad and it was not approved for print.Since then, we have recieved various phone calls, and eventually a final invoice. We made various phone calls to remind we did not authorize this ad. Cedar publishing then let us hear recorded conversations (which we were unaware of being recorded) and it was clear we did not authoize this ad, rather request more info.We wrote to Cedar, making it clear this ad was not approved, and now they are threatening to send us to small claims court, in an extremely rude and threatening letter.Who do they think they are?
wow such negative thoughts. I guess if people paid their bills like I did they wouldnt hear from them. They are actually a very well known and respect company and they produce many worthwhile publications. I had my doubts also, but I advertised with them in support of there publications and I even got a return of hearly $10,000 in new business from the first 2 ads I bought from them. They dont mislead anyone, people unfortunately have selective hearing. They do publish the police newsmagazine and the Child Find newsmagazine which helps locate kids and prevent others from going missing. I understand there is many scams out there, but trust me people, this company is definately not a scam. It was a pleasure dealing with them and I will only deal with them from now on.
And another one (me) fell for this scam! I was contacted and said I would be willing to place the ad. Was told a proof would be presented before ad ran. Proof was faxed and was in such poor quality, I couldn't make out the ad at all! Sent it back to them with a note asking to email proof as fax was just not readable enough for me to even determine if ad was OK. They sent back the same proof with a hand written note to refax because my fax to them was cut off at bottom. So I refaxed and waited, and waited, and waited. No one got back to me so at 3pm on the "final day" to approve the proof I ended up faxing them a letter outlining all the above and telling them that I would not ever pay for an ad I didn't approve and that if they wanted my busines, they should call, email or fax me back! No one contacted me, then I receive the issue in the mail along with an invoice. The ad looks terrible! It's a disgrace and an embarassement to my company, definately not an "advertisement". Called them and spoke with the now famus "Mo" who was rude and said to communicate in writing. Anyone out there have any tips on how to deal with this? Any success stories?
Good of you to put your company name and address on your note to give it some credentials - Oh wait... you didn't!
they have a private name on the phones, not a private number. I dont think they are hiding from people. I called and asked why and was told because they produce many publications and cant change the name of the phones every 2 weeks, but the number is there. Some ladies are just on a power trip and like to be heard so they come here and make nonsense remarks. They are members of high standing ethical organizations and are a very strong and well respected company. Infact if they are hiring I may go work for them.
What I would do just for the entertainment value is obtain the fax number of lo mo and fax the phone book to him just in case he does not have enough clients. Call up what ever number they have and discuss the weather. The longer they are on the phone the less time they have to steal. Go to thier office, post your complaints on thier wall. I am sure that the people who occupy the same building will soon have enough. possably the landlord will have a limit of what he will do for the rent money. Find out where he lives post the truth on the walls of the stores he may visit. Find out what mosque he attends. Make many calls asking if this is the kind of people that they want in thier place of worship. Make many copies of whatever complaints that may be against them make sure the people he deals with are aware of his practices. Spend some time researching what he does where he lives who he deals with and put what ever pressure you can on them,. keep him so busy that he will spend more time on defence than on theft. Finally, for now, take them to small debts court for the amount he is asking of you, if you do not owe it, a judge will make them stop. If enough people do this these cockroaches will hide from the light My advice is spend the time it takes it will give you a sence of accomplishment and relieve the stress these low lifes can create.
This is exactly what happened to me! And I just got a bill from them for $200 along with a copy of 'their' Childfind Magazine. The people at Childfind have never heard of Cedar Publishing or Moe N.Funny how those two previous comments extolling the virtues of Cedar Publishing were both posted on the same day and if you read them both closely they use similar words and the same type of bad grammer. I think they were written by the same person, probably Moe!
This company is fraudulent. They always call from private numbers. I told therm "I did not want to advertise with them" they have since then called me daily for an unpaid invoice. When i ask for a copy of my contract they do not have one and seem to think one is not needed. DO NOT do business with these scam artists. They are under investigation by the federal government and will be shut down and charged within the next year. If they call you for cheap advertising DO NOT say anything, simply hang the phone up. These are scam artists and they are clearly not very good ones seeing how many negative reviews there are on google. Stay CLEAR!!! Moe and Karen are the scammers, if they call you call the police at once
SO I have been putting up with this garbage for 3 years. Same story you can read about through all the previous posts. Today, I received a letter from T.J. Jomha at Jomha Law Office. He has been retained by Cedar take action against me. These guys published an ad for my holding company, which of course offers no service or products, claiming I authorized it. T.J. is now "demanding" payment, payable to his office. Are you kidding me? Looks like Mo found a like minded pillar of the community to take up his cause. Seeing as how every legal mind i have consulted about this issue says they have no grounds to pursue action, including my lawyer, I find it amusing/scary that there might be a lawyer out there who is either incompetent to the degree that he didn't make himself aware of his client's practices, or slimy enough to to take Mo's money and threaten me. Does anyone know of any "class action' style efforts against these clowns that i my be able participate in or has anyone had any real resolution?
Like others, I too have received Fraudulant collection calls from this number, which belongs Cedar Publishing in Alberta.Cedar Publishing produces CHILD FIND Newsmagazine. They claim I owe for an Ad I placed in their magazine. The Ad has neither my logo, my proper info nor does it use our common advertizing text. The add it completely bogus and was never authorized. Some guy who will only go by the initials J.T. tries to convince you that you placed the ad and get the money out of you.Blocked Phone #'s, Bogus Ads, and Collections from someone who is afraid to give you his real name, all spell trouble... KEEP Away from Cedar Publishing.I would suggest anyone having issues with them report it immediately to the Better Business Bureau. They already have a file on this guy and more amunition would be helpful in shutting him down.Additionally, I would suggest CHILD FIND might not be aware of Cedar Publishings techniques. Contacting them could get this guy off your back.
