I called a number from my pc to get help correcting information on my Google acct.
I called a number I got from my PC thinking it was my Google acct. to correct my information on my PC. I then found out it was not Google that I reached and I spoke with someone who was going to refund me the money I paid to them.
This is not a scam. Instead of calling back the number given I called the number on the back of the card - it was a good card.
got this call on 2/01. just after got a call from "Rocky Mount NC, who others claim to be PNC calling them or scammers. am Not a PNC cust so should be no reason to contact me. i go this # less than 2 yrs ago so whomever it is may have been calling the previous owner. whatever. i may have answered by telling whomever it was to F off. haven't heard from them since.
Received a call and message about my PNC debit card. Called PNC 888 number back instead after seeing a lot of these comments. PNC did in fact catch fraudulent charges. Not sure if this number is a scam or not, but be safe and just call your bank instead.
This number (800) 225-5671 is a legitimate number for PNC BANK CARD LOSS PREVENTION. Not recognizing it, I did not answer it, but let it go to voice mail. The caller gave my name and said they wanted to verify recent activity on my debt card (then gave me the correct last four digits of my card). Not knowing if it was a scam, if came to this site to see what people were saying about the number. Unfortunately, the opinions here are polarized in opinion, which is sad, because BOTH claims (its legit or it's a scam) can't be true. So I called my local PNC bank. They said the number was legitimate. They also checked my activity and found a $104 charge for a product I did not order, less than an hour ago. They stopped payment on the item and deactivated my debit card, instructing me to come into the bank and get a new one before the end of the day - which I did..The lady at the bank said that sometimes people are paid to write conflicting/confusing reports on these phone number checking sites, either because they are competitors, or (obviously) just mean spirited people with too much time on their hands.Later in the day, this number (800) 225-5671 called again, confirmed my identity via last four digits ONLY of my SSN and my date of birth. They then updated their information, as a department, that I had already shared with my local bank.So... believe who you will, but it all worked out for me as a legitimate call about an actual loss they prevented.
...don't understand that scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time. That's why it's a good idea to call the number from your bank's website or the number on the back of your card!
