Caller said was a rep with PNC Bank and calling about 2 suspicious purchases. Only asked for cid on card and zip. Cancelled call than call PNC to verify to which it was closed and verified everything this numbers rep stated. PNC rep sounded confused but confirmed what took place. I would suggest that if they ask for SSN and other odd vital info just to call the bank itself. Just because you do not have an account with them doesn't mean that a card in your name isn't out there.
I would contact PNC Bank and see why they are contacting you even if you do not bank with them. Someone may have opened a card in your name.
I got a call from this number. Asked to confirm my identity by pressing 1. Then asked me to key in my zip code. I hung up and called PNC myself. There was a fraudulent charge and PNC caught it. So, my card has been deactivated. In my case, this was a real call. I suggest never pressing or giving any info to an automated call. Always call a number that you know to be a real bank number and confirm for yourself.
If you call the PNC main number (not your branch) they will confirm that this is definitely their loss prevention dept.
I also just got a call from this number. I did answer their question, which were not intrusive for my own level of security. I got worried after reading some reviews on here. I called PNC Bank and I did find out that it is TOTALLY LEGIT..!!Someone used a dummy card (Fake PNC Debit Card) to attempt to buy gas in Orlando,FL. PNC called me (800.225.5671) very soon after this was attempted. Thank you PNC for having my 6.
Got a call and voice message from 800-225-5671 saying there was possible fraudulent use of my debt card. I called them back since I had closed that account. They wanted the 3 digit code on back of card and my user name which I did not give them. I told them the card no longer existed but they insisted they needed to check it out. The music, hold and automated prompts all sounded real. I hung up and called PNC. They said it is not one of their numbers and they would never ask for a user name or 3 digit code. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE CALLING FROM THIS NUMBER.
Not a scam the # is pnc bank i just called them and verified this #. Perhaps someone used your info and applied for a card. Maybe u do have a card and just dont know it.
Let call go to VM, automatic recording stating it was PNC Bank card loss prevention calling about recent activity on my debit card. Called 800-PNC-BANK to verify that it was them calling & was not. Was asked by PNC to report this phone # and transcript of call to abuse@pnc.com
Received a voicemail from this phone number wanting me to call back and verify some recent activity to my Visa debit card ending in XXXX. I called the phone number which is printed on my debit card and my bank said NO calls were made to me.
I got a call from this number and they left a VM asking me to verify two transactions on my card. I called the number on the back of my debit card and am now on hold because of a high call volume...probably a bunch of people getting the same call. This same thing happened to my sister and she ended up having her saving account wiped out. NOTE: Typically your bank WILL NOT call you about fraud unless you have alerts set up. Always verify by calling the number on the back of the card.
