This number 1-800-225-5671 has called me for days ....electronic call asking to verify name, personal info by pressing 1. Then asks for last four numbers of my PNC VISA Debit....became suspicious. Went to the local PNC Branch....nothing wrong with my account or card. They called again.....had to have the number blocked, but called PNC customer service to verify number was not a PNC number and my account was fine. ??????? How did they get my number, name etc. ???????????????
That number is not a scam, I called 1-888-PNC-BANK, went through the system and selected Identity Theft/Fraud. Once I got to someone, I mentioned the issue and 800-225-5671 number and he said that, that was PNC's security number. All the things the other guy said about cancelling my card and ordering a new one was instead true.
This is not a scam. It really is PNC Bank calling you about suspicious activity on your debit card. PNC does a fantastic job of monitoring for fraud and I am very thankful that they do this. This number called me this morning because I had made some uncharacteristic charges on my card. They called to verify them in case my card had been lost or stolen. All is well. I am a loyal PNC customer and always will be. They take great care of their depositors!
got a call from 800-225-5671 and called 1-888-PNC-Bank and talked to the Theft/Fraud department and they checked the number and stated it is not one of there numbers
Those of you claiming this number, legitimately used by PNC Bank's card fraud department, is a scam are victims of Caller ID spoofing. With the right equipment or web service anyone could call you with any number they want to display. Want to appear to be calling from the White House? No problem. Want the Caller ID to say PNC Bank 800-225-5671? No problem. Heck, they could call you and display YOUR name and number.I got a call from this number this morning asking me to call regarding suspicious activity. I did not call the number they left I called the number on the back of my debit card. The call was legitimate. There were transactions made yesterday and today that have not shown up on the account yet that were not mine.
Received call this morning from this number - no message. Returned call and recording said there had been suspicious activity on my credit/debit card. Recorded voice confirmed my telephone number then asked for the last four digits of my credit/debit card. I hung up. Called PNC Bank and they say this is definitely a scam.
This is legitimate. No, they didn't ask for SSN. Automated verification of 3 charges. When you hit 2, it gives more information and it is quite detailed. So for instance, one charge was for $10 at a restaurant. Pressed 2, told me the Taco Bell and its franchise number, etc. Totally legit.
I received a call from 800 225 5671, asking for my last 4 digits of my card, I was suspicious that I hang up.I tried to call PNC but they were closed for the holidays. The call was saying there is a mysterious charge against my card, so when I was at home I immediately open my account and could not see any mysterious charge. I called back the number that called me but only the recorded voice will answer. I will wait for the bank to open as they're close for the holidays and report this call to them.
