Got calls from this number claimed to be from Chase Bank. They call me multiple times after I made one fund transfer from Chase. Chase confirms this is not from them. It is a scam. Do not answer!
I agree with all. Very suspicious. I didn't like the way it was handled. I entered the reference number which could not be recognized. (I did call much after their deadline.) Since we don't use (have?) a debit card, they were going to refer me to their credit card department. However, since I thought it might be related to the checking account, I gave the checking account #. DUMB. Anyway, they confirmed there was nothing he could find related to fraud. I then decided to look up the phone number online and found all the comments here.So I then used online chase to send them a mail to confirm the phone number. They confirmed it. Comments are here:Thank you for contacting us. We understand your concern about your account and will be more than happy to help you.We reviewed the suspicious message or phone call you received. Rest assured, this was valid and came from us.The phone number 1-800-366-1962 is our Electronic Money Movement Department. This department conducts risk review for internet initiated transactions including bill pay, overnight checks, payroll transactions, wire templates, and external transfers. In the future, continue to look out for any message or phone call that:- Asks you to confirm, verify or give out account numbers, Social Security numbers or other personal information- Threatens to close your account if you don't send personal information immediately- Says there are unauthorized charges on your account and asks you to enter or confirm your account informationVisit chase.com/security for more information and advice. If you need any other assistance, you can send us a secure message. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Chase.Thank you,+ + + +And actually, I had set up online electronic transfer recently. So it looks like I lucked out and it was not a scam. To me, it was a bit odd though that this number has claimed to be Chase for several years, so if it were a scam, hopefully Chase would have followed up and close it down. However, I'll keep in mind for future references that I shouldn't just trust an 800 number. I was even wondering as a technique to give wrong personal information upfront. If they don't flag it as wrong information (such as birthdate, etc), then likely they are fishing for information.
The number is legit. For safety however, always call the number on the back of your card, and ask them if there are any problems.I called the number on my card and they verified that there was an alert placed due to some amazon orders I placed last night. I cleared it with them and all is well.
Yea, Chase Fraud Prevention - Online Banking. One of my QuickPay payment was set for a review. I called it, the automated system only asked me for my zip code and then cleared my QuickPay payment. So this is legit.
Diablo135 must be part of the scam. 1-800-366-1962 is confirmed by Chase to be a fraudulent number. It's so good of a scam that it even puts you on hold for 10 minutes like Chase might. And they go online to dismiss the comments of others as Diablo135 did. I called the number on the back of my Chase credit card and Chase confirmed that there was no fraud alert on my account and that this is not a Chase phone number.
This is a scam. Chase just verified it. Of course everyone who checked out this number is a Chase customer - if we weren't we would know it was a scam from the start.
