Chase fraud alert scam

I recieved a call from this number. An automated machine said it was chase and they suspect fraudulant activity. They wanted me to call the number back with a reference number to confirm a recent transaction and that until I contact this number I will not be able to use my card. I found the message phishy because I have recieved valid calls from chase regarding transactions they questioned. They always refence my account number ending in XXXX or card number ending in XXXX. I have always went to my local bank or called my local bank to verify the information and handle the issue. I called my local bank and was informed there is NO hold on my account pending my approval of a transaction. My account looks fine. I have since used my card and there is no hold. THIS NUMBER IS A NON-CHASE NUMBER.

What's bizarre is that this automated voice message arrived right after I made a transfer to my sister at another bank, AND I got a TEXT msg asking me to confirm the correct amount, and that if the transfer wasn't legit, to call the same 800 number as the voicemail was from. Well, after reading these posts, I decided to call Chase directly and spoke to both a regular service rep who said there were no alerts on my account, AND a fraud department rep who said there were no alerts, and that they would know if there were any, and that the call I got was probably a phishing call. What the HELL! If it was a fraud call, then how did they know I had just made a transfer and they even knew the exact amount? But if it wasn't a fraud call, then why didn't anybody at Chase know about it? Scary-Scary. If this is a scam, they are VERY sophisticated and have some inside banking system information about transfers. Must be the Russians.

I just got this call too. Says it's Chase Fraud Alert and actually had my name on the recording. Scary

I just got the called, it was from Chase Fraud Prevention unit, they wanted to confirm a transaction I made this morning. The number is legit.

Received a call and they left recorded message claiming to be from Chase Fraud. They left a number to use when calling back to verify account information to avoid problems with my account. THIS IS NOT Chase. Called chase to verify, it is not their number and they did not call!

Recorded message states that this is a call from Chase Bank regarding online transactions. The number is bogus. Don't answer/respond and report to the real Chase Bank @ abuse@chase.com

This is a Fraudulent number. As Mel says, it is a recorded message that claims to be Chase. I contacted Chase and they confirmed that this is not a Chase authorized number.
