This is truly a legitimate outbound number from Chase Credit Card systems attempting to help you to prevent fraud on your account. When their system identifies something that looks potentially suspicious, they attempt to call you to right the market, to make sure the good vendors get paid, your credit is protected, and etc. Please do return their calls. I do not work for Chase but I am a banker. You can believe me.
This is a legitimate number, like many are saying above. Received an email and a phone call about fraudulent activity on my card. When in doubt, call the # on the back of the card, which is always trustworthy. I only had to enter the last 4 of my card and it automatically directed me to the fraud department anyway. New cards are on their way.
Received a call from this number. It coincided with charges on my card with Chase which they declined at the time, which is very unusual so the coincidence would be rather unlikely. I called back on the phone number on the back of my card and confirmed the charges. I have no reason to believe it was a fraudulent call, but decided not to call it back or respond at the time of the call just in case. Go ahead and just call back on the number on the back if your card if you are paranoid about it. Won't hurt. I do have to seriously doubt all the posts saying it is a scam or phishing attempt, though. The posts seem to be children or maybe someone on too many drugs... But whatever, not worth the time...
This number is legit for Chase CREDIT CARDS! This confused me because I called up to check in on my checking account and they told me they had no record of this number or of any alerts on my account. Cue me freaking out. So after talking with multiple representatives and being transferred around, I finally asked the Chase Fraud worker I was talking to if it could have been my credit card that was having issues. She said maybe, but she didn't have access to that information. That was an entirely DIFFERENT department and set of numbers. She transferred me over and lo and behold, it was a LEGITIMATE call from Chase but from their CREDIT CARD department, not the one that deals with checking accounts. They just wanted me to verify some transactions because I'd been doing quite a bit of spending in a city I'm not usually in. So if you get a call from this number it is definitely legitimate, but you will want to call back the number on the back of your CREDIT CARD not your DEBIT CARD because if you call the number on the back of your debit card they are going to assume you're overreacting, talk down to you, and act like you're crazy and tell you that the call was probably a scam because they have no record of the number. I think that is so stupid. You'd think the number would show up in the directory regardless if it was for the department that deals with checking accounts or the one that deals with credit cards...but nope. They just tell you it is a scam even though it is a LEGITIMATE CHASE NUMBER. Ugh! Talk about a morning of panic.
This is not chase (800) 454-9078 I do not have a chase CC and received an email that my account needs to be updated then a week latter I received the email."We want to help keep your account secure so we continuously monitor it for possible fraudulent activity. We're writing to verify whether the transaction below was authorized by you or another Cardmember. Click YES below if you recognize it or NO if you don't recognize it. I was awoken this morning by a call from Chase Fraud Prevention at 800-454-9078. I did call it back and they did have valid info on my Chase account number, asked me to verify account by giving them last 4 digits of SS#. They knew the amount of an online charge I had made to my account and where it was made. This was a valid call from Chase Fraud Prevention. After doing a web search on the number I came upon this site, and begin to doubt this mornings call. I called Chase at a number listed on their website and pushed the digit given to connect with the charge dispute dept. The rep I spoke with said he could not verify the 800 #, but did tell me that yes I was called this morning and they had also sent me an e-mail which they had. This was a very valid call and I am glad Chase trys to keep on top of my account.
This is Chase Visa Fraud Department, just checking on random charges. They do NOT ask your personal information, but read you your last fee charges to verify they were legitimate charges.
Sorry for the listing before this but I just received a call from Chase fraud and they informed me that someone was using a CC i had not used or seen since i moved over 5 years ago. I had forgotten that I ever had a Chase CC. I did not give them any info and made sure they had all my info and only asked the caller to give me info that they would know. (800) 454-9078
