And what makes you think that you have not been a victim of identity theft and had an account set up in your name by someone else? Or, for instance, a Best Buy or Toys R Us card are Chase cards.Garbage in, garbage out ... of your mouth.
You're a [***]. I can't figure out how you have so much free time on your hands that you can spend it lying to everyone about this number being a scam. It's time for a hobby, dude. No, masturbating doesn't count. I was emailed by Chase asking me to confirm or deny a questionable transaction a day or so before getting a call from this number. I called it later that day and spoke with a Chase rep who confirmed a few recent transactions as well as the transaction I did not authorize and he was able to cancel my card and issue me a new one. As stated by everyone else (including the "Scammers", haha), just call the number on the back of the card.
The number given is a legitimate bank number. How do you figure it's a scam when an automated system asks you to call a legitimate bank number? Really? If a person called claiming to be from Chase asking you to give information, that would be one thing. When a call comes through saying, "We think there may be fraud on your card. Please call us", and it is in fact the bank you are calling when you dial that number, you have to be "special" indeed to think it's a scam.
I find this thread frustrating. This IS LEGITIMATE, those who say it is not, are mistaken. We got a call from this number and let it go to voicemail. Listened to the voicemail and then called the phone number printed on the back of our credit card, not the number left by Chase (which was different because Chase uses many different phone numbers). Our credit card number was stolen earlier in the morning, the first charge went through, they stopped the second. It was used across the country. Chase owns many different credit card brands, if you're saying you don't have an account with them, perhaps you do under a different name, OR your credit card company outsources fraud to Chase. This number was legit and thanks to this service, saved our bacon.

SCAM ALERT! Right after I deleted old accounts on my Amazon account I received a call from 800-454-9078 and the message on my machine was with regard to Credit Card Change Number.... I phoned them back in case they were from Amazon and the machine asked for the last three digits of the credit card and I made up three random numbers and the machine identified this as a non-number and asked for my whole credit card number. So I hung up. I contacted Amazon and this is not a number they authorize and so I reported it as a scam and was very graciously thanked after I was warned very politely that Amazon will never ask for my credit card number ever.
