They have called me tree times today. After I googled this number, I've called them myself. They verified me and told me about charges attempted to my account today, total up to ~ $1500.00 from two places, I've never dealt with. When I told them: "Who are those?" and that I last time used this card about a year ago and not even nearly to the amount attempted to be charged, they closed this account ant told me, that I am not liable to these charges (which, btw, were declined at the time of attempt) and that they will issue the replacement card on this account with the different number. So far, so good, Thank them!
I received an automated phone call on Christmas Eve from 800-766-4908 asking me to call back and verify a convenience check that was written on my credit card account at Chase. The message gave me areference number and a phone number to call. I did not call the number that was stated in the message. Instead I returned this call from my home phone usening the number that showed up om my caller ID. This was a ligitimate call from Chase Fraud Division. Evidently using my home number identified me to them as the call wes answered by another automated message. The message already knew all pertinant information about my account. It stated the amount of the check in question and who it was written to. The only question that I was asked is if this check was authorised by me. It also said to press 1 if it was and 2 if it wasn't and a representative would come on the line if it was not authorised by me.
So what happens when you don't have a Chase Card? Do I have to discover if any of my cards are somehoe connected to Chase? They don't SAY so! Did someone open a Chase account in my name? How would I discover that?
I can not say thank you enough to all of you who have posted to this phone number it has saved me.
Same thing just happened to me, I called the number on the back of the card instead of 1-800-456-9078 and was automatically rerouted to Fraud. They had blocked my card but I had not noticed. What triggered it was using Amazon on demand video, a few $1.99 and $2.99 charges. That must be a red flag for them.
We received several calls from this number while on vacation. Chase wanted to confirm that our purchases were in fact valid as we had made purchases near home, on vacation, and on the internet. This number is a legitimate call-back number for Chase's fraud department.
A follow up. I was just talking to my sister. She signed up for Google a business and a few days was charged again for something not even remotely connected to google. However last month I signed up for Google business and Monday the charges showed up.
It IS a legitimate number. Just to be sure, I took the advice of a previous blogger and called the card member # on the back of the card who confirmed the 800# as legitimate.
I got a recorded call this morning from this number, but balked when I returned the call and they asked for my full account number. I checked this site and called the number on the back of the card as suggested. They only asked for the last four digits of the card but also asked for the last four digits of my social security number, so that's not unusual. The person I spoke to had a slight accent, so it's possible I still got the Phillipine call center. I had tried to use the account the day before and had been rejected. It seemed that the charge had gone thru anyway but the person I spoke to was able to confirm that it had not.
This is NOT a legit Chase phone number!! I just got off the phone with Chase and they told me this is NOT one of their numbers. This is a SCAM. Those involved in the scam post on sites like this claiming it's legit in order to get you to call the number with your information. DO NOT DO IT!
