I received a call from 800-454-9078 claiming to be from the Chase CC fraud department. It was an automated message asking me to call back. Instead of calling that number, I called the toll-free number on the Chase website for CC customer service, 800-432-3117, and found out it was a legitimate call from a Chase automated system, and someone indeed tried to use my card.
Chase says this is one of their fraud numbers. However, there is a system that can show false numbers on your caller id. One of my 12 year olds friends did it to us. Nice prank. So as stated by most posting here. Give out no information. Call Chase back using the number on the back of your card.Got a call from this number today and by calling Chase directly found there were no fraud alerts for my accounts.
"no more fraud charges" is only because there were *NO* fraudulent charges to begin with in the first place. This number is *NOT* legit, just read widget's post below yours. Hahahahahahaha !!!
got txt message and phone call from this number,i don't have any business with Chase Bank, this is SCAM for sure!!
Was a (legit) call from Chase Fraud Detection but to be safe, I called the number on my card. They had picked up on a fraud charge from just this morning and were calling to verify it. It took less than 5 minutes to tell them I didn't make the purchase and for them to close my account and issue me a replacement card with a new number. Bottom line:Legit, but to be safe call the number on your card. They could have tried to make their automated fraud detection call less scam-y sounding
Just call the number on the back of your credit card and ask the Chase person if the number is real or not. They'll say it's a valid Chase number. Why don't you try that instead of re-posting the same thing over and over again.
Valid hell.I got a call and when I called the number on my card they said NO that this numberis not their Fraud Dept. I have blocked this number and I called and had my say with a young lady just now and she didn't say a word just listened and I told her if you all are phishingpeople's info I hope you rot in hell. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my account whatsoever. It' s CRAP !
Only SCAMMERS worry about my re-posting the same thing over and over again. I'm only doing what the SCAMMERS are doing -- posting over and over again... and over and over again... and over and over again... to dispute that this number is a legit Chase number (and it is NOT). The only difference is SCAMMERS spin 1001 slightly different fables that ALLEGE the same thing -- that this is a legit Chase number (and it is NOT) or they've been told by Chase (and they were NOT) that this is a legit Chase number (and it is NOT), while I spin the same story over and over again because it's the ONLY story needed to evade SCAMMERS. Banks do not use secret, unlisted, publicly-unverifiable numbers to interact with their customers because scammers can set up toll-free numbers, pretend to be the banks, steal customer account and ID info, rob customer accounts, open and spend credit accounts using stolen IDs..... well, sort of like what this number is doing. Naaah, PRECISELY what this number is doing. This number is a SCAMMER number pretending to be Chase Bank. Their victims will end up with destroyed FICOs and debt collectors calling at all hours and banging on their doors.
The number is LEGIT. I had a 125 charge from match.com that i logged in and saw after I had the voice mail from this phone number. Call them back!
Since Chase issues cards for different merchants, the number on the back of your card may not be the same as the 800 number that called. I called the customer service number on my statement, which is different from the 800 number. They did confirm someone had tried to charge some electronic equipment to my account. They had declined the sale, so my card was not charged. They are also issuing me a new card. From what I'm reading, it sounds as though Chase and/or the merchants they issue cards for has been hacked and their card numbers are out in the wild. I have never given my card number to anyone and used it in the last several months. I have the card in my possesion, so I know they didn't get the number from a lost or stolen card.
