What a terrible way to contact a customer about fraud. They left a message for me so I called and with no identification whatsover thier automated system was asking for my entire credit card number.I am thinking, ok, which one, since your system doesn't identify itself. So I waited for a rep and inquired what company it was.She imedeatly asked me for my credit card number! So i politely told her I would love to comply but that she needed to at least tell me what company she was so I could tell her the right number. She replied chase , so I hung up and called the number on the back of the card.It was legit, but where is the liability with the amount of stupid people out there who are probably calling back like I did and just guessing as to the card and putting credit card numbers that are not chase cards?
Correct last 4 digits on another card, but no chase card with that last 4 digits. When I called the number given the first thing they ask for is the entire credit card number...I don't trust any company that needs that up front. Smells like someone from them is fishing for one of my other credit card numbers. I'll wait till spouse get's home and decide whether we'll call the sheriff's office. Good luck all.
Hi, my husband came on here because he got a call from this number. He recognized the last 4 digits of a credit card that we have, but it wasn't a Chase card. So he didn't tell them anything. BUT, Chase recently bought out Washington Mutual (WaMu). Our VISA card with those last 4 digits was... ta da! Our WaMu card! So it was a real call, he just didn't recognize it because we didn't (to his knowledge) have a CHASE card. However, we actually did, it just said WaMu on the front, LOL. So in short, it was legit! Regardless, you should always be careful about these calls, and if you are unsure, just call the toll-free number on the back of your card and ask THEM for the number to their fraud department.
I got a call from them. It was a recording, and cut off halfway through. I called chase, and they couldn't find this as being one of their numbers. I don't see anything fishy on any of my Chase accounts. pretty sure this is a Phishing call.
It was a Legit call. They found some unauthorized transactions and alerted me. They did not charge me to replace the card.
The number seems to be legit, but that doesn't mean that the person calling you is legit. The numbers on caller ID fields can be faked (spoofed). If you get a call from this number, hang up and call the number on the back of your card. Always best to take the safe approach.
I called number from back of my CC to check about the number I got the call from, and they confirm that there was the fraud on my CC and they also confirm that the 800-454-9078 number is legitimate.
When they call me, they mentioned my name, and I called the # from the back on my CC. They confirmed that the call was real and there was the purchase on my CC of $7 which they blocked because it was suspicious (I did not recognize that one).
Fake calls from obviously computer generated voice claiming to be "Chase"...not "Chase Bank". Claims to be calling regarding my credit card for my Mariott account. Funny, I also got a text message from a random 5 digit number earlier in the week with something similar about a fraudulent charge at a candy store.I don't bank with Chase, so nice try.
