My email and call was legit. Doesn't mean someone couldn't fake it, so just be smart. After verifying the requested info on the call, I was able to log into my Chase account and see that the card and all the activity had been removed from my Account Details. About 5 minutes later, I was able to log back in and see that my card activity was all there again, but under a new credit card number (last 4 digits). Obviously that could only be done by Chase.1) verify the web address on the "Yes" and "No" button in the email has a link to a website with "chase.com" in it. You can check this without actually submitting the email. On an iPhone, just press the "Yes" or "No" link and hold. a box will pop up to show the address.2) Verify the call number.3) On the call, they ask you to verify all kinds of information (address, 3-digit security code on card, etc, phone number). So, it feels wrong to give that detail. What I did was say "Don't you already have that information on file?" They responded, "Yes, is it still the one that ends in xxxx", etc. Then, I'd confirm and provide more info if needed.
Legit call from Chase after I received a potential fraud email and confirmed I did NOT make the purchase in question and requested to be called. There were two other fraudulent charges on the account that I wouldn't have caught for days had Chase not flagged one of the three. Card is closed and I'm not responsible for the transactions. It was automated when I answered and had to wait a few minutes to talk to a representative. I was not asked to provide any compromising card info, just confirming charges, my name, my address. Those of you suggesting to call the number on the card...if it was actually stolen or lost from your possession you wouldn't have the card to reference. It's always smart to be careful but no need to go overboard when it's a number representing a legit company and service. Thank you, Chase!
This is a completly fraudulent number and a total scam, look at the back of your card or contact Chase.com. Fake, Fake ,Fake
I'd added to call blockerdon't know don't care anymoreThis could be part of INDIA MAFIA CALL CENTER FRAUD
Confirmed with chase bank that a call from this number saying my card had questionable purchases was a phishing call and not from chase. If chase has noticed any problem with your account, they will call AND send a e-mail to your e-mail currently on file with them.DO NOT GIVE THESE CALLERS ANY INFO-----NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Recd a call from this number which was caught by my call blocker. I then read the comments here and since I had submitted a large charge last night for an overseas vacation rental, it could be Chase fraud dept. I called the number on my card and they confirmed that that payment had been stopped. So everything was legit, my call blocker worked but I have some complaints with Chase: There is no Chase ID on the caller, only "toll free call" and they do not attempt to follow the easy instructions from my Sentry call blocker, they just put a stop on the charge (which cannot be reversed, the receiver has to submit again). Still, it was a legitimate call from Chase. I do not understand the various rants here about it being a scam, possibly the number is spoofed by some crooks, but everybody should remember to call back the number on your card only.
We received an email about suspicious account activity that looked like it came from Chase. To the untrained eye it would have looked legitimate but I build web applications and could tell by both the look and feel and the subdomain hyperlinks that it was fake and deleted it. A week later my wife gets a voicemail telling her to call this number. I check our account (again mind you, I already did when I got the email) and there is NO activity. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. We have an account but do not use it so this is correct. I called Chase using the number on the back of my card, they confirmed, no activity. So why are we getting a call from this number?Out of curiosity I went ahead and called. They sound somewhat legitimate on the phone but again, there were little things that I could tell made it fake. I did not provide them any information and they provided me with no information. The person I spoke with had an Indian accent and was personable. They also recommended I call the number on the back of the card.Amongst the "it's a SCAM" comments and "no it's NOT" comments, I want you to consider one thing. Can something be legitimate when it's validity is repeated called into question? I don't think so. I think you need to verify that your account is in good standing but only by logging into the chase website from typing in the URL your self (never use links in email) or calling the number listed on the back of your credit card.I've looked up questionable phone numbers before from the site in the first page of Google results. That's how I got here. This is the first I've ever seen where people go back and forth about it being fake or real. That to me is the biggest sign something is wrong. My bet is all the comments saying it is a SCAM are correct and all the other comments (no matter how reasonable they may sound) are actually made by the scammers trying to put on over on you.Hopefully you see this too...
