Got a call from this number. In light of the fact that they mentioned FedEx was hit in the recent hacking attacks, I am fairly certain this is not legit. They described a situation I did not recognize, so I plan to ignore.
Call came on my cell. A message was left in one of the following languages KOREAN, JAPANESE or CHINESE.
The number 800-463-3339 appears to be a legit FedEx number. HOWEVER...the person did not leave a voicemail the first time they called. Then called again and left a voicemail with a different phone number - 855-556-0557. The voicemail was vague. She said "This message is for XXXX. This is XXXX with FedEx. I'm calling about an account set up with a credit card. I NEED a call back at 1-855-556-0557 extension 1004."I later got an email with the same number to call. However, the email is very unprofessional, has poor grammar and does not look "official" to me. It reads "PLEASE CALL ME regarding Fedex acct opened using Visa" and has a name and phone number (the same 855 number).Upon googling the number I see mixed reviews of what it might be. One report indicates it's FedEx Account Recovery Department. The email states it is "Fraud & Security Control." So I'm skeptical.I forwarded the email to abuse@fedex.com So I guess we shall see. I set up an account to have a few packages sent to me from a hotel while on vacation. I got the packages and my credit card was charged appropriately so I fail to see what the issue might be at this point.
Recorded female voice left message on my cell phone in an asian language that I don't speak, so I don't know what it's about.
I've gotten a total of 4 calls in the last 3 1/2 - 4 hours (only 1 voicemail). If this really is FedEx I don't think they'd call multiple times like this. I just don't think a reputable company would do that.
I believe the mystery of this number is solved. Over the years I've received a call from 1-800-463-3339 and when I call back I hear the "scam" message about travel stuff. But I am expecting a FedEx package from outside Canada. I call FedEx Canada and then they transfer me to the International customer service. Anyway, the store is that the toll-free number when called within the USA will go to FedEx customer service. BUT in Canada the toll-free number got squatted by another business. USA and Canada can have the SAME toll-free number owned by different companies. Yup, this causes a lot of confusion. If you call 1-800-463-3339 from a USA number or a VOIP service like through Google (Gmail too at left hand side for free if from Canada/USA) you'll reach FedEx USA.
I received a voicemail from (800) 463-3339 and it was in Chinese or Japanese!!! So I have no idea what it was for!
I received a voicemail last night from FedEx. Message said they would be delivering a package "tomorrow", and someone needed to be there to sign for it. I've ordered numerous items recently, but did not think they were coming thru FedEx., so I called the 800 number. Nice lady answers. I ask if they had a package coming to my address today. She looked, and said nothing was coming to that address. I began reading all of these responses and within 5 minutes, FedEx is at my front door. It was a delivery my husband was expecting. It did require a signature. I told the delivery lady abt the phone call I had just made to FedEx, and she said that was crazy! There was definitely a package for our address !Not sure what to think. Read so many different opinions, & thought I'd share my experience!!
