This is concerning because I've had these calls where they want you to take the message to someone next door or across the street... I think they are calling from right near your house and are just waiting for you to leave the house and either do something to you, or try to access your house after you leave! I would be very concerned about that kind of call!

I have to laugh at how you think it's just that someone has a debt that these calls from this particular number are happening.Most people in America have debt. If you're a scammer, and you go fishing in America, you're going to hit a person who owes debt.But legitimate debt collectors don't harass your extended family members, ask for your social security number, they don't have incorrect information on you, and they don't make it hard to connect back to the person when you call the number they give you. (How do I know? I've been in collections. The comments about blaming the people in debt are really missing the point that this is a scam phone call.)This is super fishy behavior by the callers - the rudeness and insistence are NOT actually "business as usual" for a collection agency. I've never had anyone be rude to me trying to collect a debt! The scammers and phishers do, though, because they rely on people being put into a passive and fearful position, and hoping when faced with an aggressive person, they'll do what the caller wants. So who is the idiot? You have to look past the surface issue, which you're knee-jerking on, and realize IT'S A SCAMMER. And therefore the calls are not going to stop even if you don't have debt.

Just received a call from this number and they did not leave a phone message.

Called at 10 am, and did not leave phone message. Unknown repeated called.

Asked for my ex husbands current wife.

My friends were walking in a mall shopping and friend 1 got a call from this number. It came up as UNKNOWN so he ignored it but he saw the #. Seconds after his call stopped ringing his friend got a call from the same #. He picked up the phone and a man asked him if he know the friend who had just ignored this call. I then called the # and they are a collection agency and they do call friends or family members and we can only wonder what dirty way they got the numbers.

If it came through as unknown caller, how did you know what number it was?

We have gotten many many calls from this number, and a million other numbers we don't know. We don't answer. They don't leave a message. They're criminals, and they're relentless! If you don't know the number ... DO NOT ANSWER the phone. If they leave a message, DO NOT call them back. Legitimate companies will send something in the mail, in writing. These are criminals looking to scam you into giving out personal information so they can steal it and use it. DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE if you don't recognize the number. Simple.
