This is a very annoying scam. This guy would call about five times a day and never leave a message. I finally got annoyed and decided to answer, pin him, scare him, and be done with the harrasement:Me: Hello?Foreign [***]: .... oh! Uh, am I speaking to [name redacted]?(I guess he wasn't used to me picking up)Me: Yes.Foreign [***]: We called you a few days ago about an overdrawn account. However we've noticed that you've received a wire transfer and the problem is taken care of. Do you have any questions regarding your account.Me: No. I'm fine.Foreign [***]: Well... uh, to confirm your information, what is your address? Me: [fake address]Foreign [***]: (typing in background) we have you here listed under [my former address]. Have you called customer services to make the changes?Me: Let me ask you something.Foreign [***]: K-Me: How is it that you know all this information? Because according to the Better Business Bureau, this number has been reported as a scam.Foreign [***]: It... shows up as a different number when you receive a call from Chase.Me: This isn't the number from Chase. Foreign [***]: (obvious moment of confusion) it isn't?Me: No. Don't call me again.(Then I hang up.)Angry and creeped out by this fellows extensive knowledge about what is going in and out of my account, I called Chase via their customer service number given on their website and told the representative at the other end about the mysterious caller claiming to be Chase. She advised:1. If Chase calls you and asks you to verify your account number, address, or any other personal information, the caller is phishing. Chase never asks you to "confirm" personal information when they are calling you. 2. To get myself to a branch tomorrow and change my account number. The scammer, somehow, unfortunately, got a hold of my information and I should change it as soon as possible.Don't be fooled. And guard what's yours. AND don't listen to the [***] in this comment section who are touting the grandness of this phone number. They are either very stupid or sitting on their phones waiting to steal you blind.
Dude, seriously, this number is bogus. It's not real: Whenever I get a voice mail 'message' from it, it just tells me "...Friday 8 PM- ? PM eastern time, thank you." When I "do" answer it, all I get is some automated voice on the other end which I hang up on seconds after I hear it (mostly because I was unaware of the number calling me at the time and didn't want a pile of phone bills just because I'm receiving a bogus 1-800 call). I read in the former posts that this is a scam call from Chase. It's strange, I don't even have a Chase account, so why would someone phish from someone who isn't even connected with Chase? My advise to you is to block the number as soon as you can; don't even hesitate to answer, otherwise they'll call you incessantly. I should know: these freakin' idiots call me in the middle of the night, early in the morning, and even when I'm not home.
(800) 555-0433 has been calling me every single night this week. They left a voicemail today, with a prerecorded message that detailed office hours.
This number is for J.P. Morgan Chase Bank - Collections Department. After reading these posts, before I called the number, I called the main Chase Bank to see if this 800-555-0433 was one of their numbers. I was told that Yes, it is one of their numbers, and it was the Collections Department. They were calling about an overdrawn account. They do leave a peculiar message stating the times to call, but don't say that it is Chase Bank. The message says to call the number and use Option 1 and gives hours of operation. The message ID read Unavailable. It was a legitimate call.
I would not believe that it is a Chase Collections number. I have a Chase acct, BUT, do NOT have any reason for the collections dept to call me (I owe them nothing, and do not have anything with them to be over due on). I have a personal banker at Chase who does call me. It is a scam.
They call me 3 or 4 times a day. If i pick up the phone i hear a recorded message saying they are from Chase and i must call them back for important information at 1 800-555-0433, and choose option 1.I called back and they ask me for my name, number , and adress. I gave them my name and number since they already had it, i asked the name of the company and they said chase. The man on the phone only gave me his first name, which was Craig. I told him to put me on the NO Call List. He told me he couldn't do that because his calls were not a solicitation. I told him again to put me on the NO Call List and hung up the phone. Can i sue him now?
800-555-0433 calls my home about 3-5 times a day. I don't answer & they never leave a message. Just a few minutes ago, they clled, got my machine & hung up & called again! I didn't answer the 1st time, why would I the 2nd! IDIOTS! Chase notifies me by mail & email...not by phone! Has anyone applied for a payday advance loan & rec'd calls from this # since?
