just got a call from this number and the guy said he is from Microsoft. He said that my computer was sending them serious error messages and he was calling to help. I knew it was a scam right away. He wanted me to immeadatley turn my computer on and let him log in to help me fix these serious problems. I pressed him for more info but he was evasive. I finally told him that I didn't have time to work on my computer and asked for his number so I could call him back. He said that if I didn't have time then he didnt have time to tell me his number.....
I did not answer. The caller did not leave a message. In the past, I did answer the number and I was told that I had a virus on my computer. I had to turn the computer on. I hung up.
this is not a real Micro Soft number. They just called me 2 days ago and some foreign speaking man told me that they were following up on a call about a dangerous virus on my computer and I would need their tech help in removing it. I hung up. Been there done that and they won't ever get me again. the first time was 3 yrs ago and they called and said the exact same thing and I thought it must be serious for them to call so they had the license # to my computer and asked me to confirm it - I did and 3 days later my computer was hacked. I called Micro Soft to find out if they called me and they very promptly told me that they never call anyone - they are more than happy to help if you call them but they will never place a call to anyone esp over a virus situation.
I got this call on my home phone. Did not answer. It is not really Microsoft, as it's always a foreign person, and I have "called" them on their scam many times before. What I really want to know is, how did they get my cell phone number? I have had NO dealings with any issues with Microsoft, so they would have NO reason to call me back about the "problem". This is nothing but a scam, and when they call and tell me they are from Microsoft, I promptly say, "no you're not", and hang up.
they have called me twice now in the past week. the first time my husband answered and I told him to hang up because it was a scam. they called back again 2 days ago and I just turned the phone on & off to hang up the call.
This is the same number have been getting for 3 years everytime I try to contact Microsoft. And its always a middle east guy or gal. I have bought windows 8 OS disks so I can do a clean install. But all it was, was a hacked version of windows that leaves holes in my public firewall and my PC gets taken over. Everything I download gets modified and archived. Then if I try to download a fresh version of something it will uninstall it and do a phony download using the corrupt version. My PC is a Lenovo my It suppose to have a Intel proccesor but when I troubleshoot it shows AMD 64. These people are getting huge in the US with companys selling Used PCs and 3rd party PCS to placec like walmart staples and all the other big retailers. ITs a matter of national security, but our goverment is either to stupid or dont give a hoot. How do you think countrys like S. Korea can overload DNS servers like when that movie that made fun of there leader. They sell PCs with dormant nasty viruses and every horible thing you can think about and as soon as you go online it opens up security holes connects to a server and you are part of there botnet. Then on top of it they sell your info to spammers and redirect you toall the sites to make them money. I could go on and on but these people own most of the PCs the public buys and most people dont even know it. And there aint a friggen thing we can do about it. And the main players in this crap is the middle east and China. Of course. Every other shady country in the world. How do you think Wal Mart and the rest sell there PCs for less than the manufacture. Our goverment should be watching and hearing about all the strang problems that are reported. But most of the time it just getting reported to some phony page like the one im on right now and nobody will ever see it Right You azzzz holes you know who you are Microsoft en us. This is a waste of time I wrote all this so some prick can just redirect it .
No message left. It's sad to say, but even legitimate businesses don't leave messages anymore. I've gotten to the point that I don't answer my phone for unknown calls and I figure if the call is indeed important then they will leave a message.
Left voice mail message saying needed to contact them immediately as a virus was found in my computer. Since I hadn't been on the computer for hours, did not call back, putting on do not call list.
