I just got a call from this number and requested their number to call them back. What they gave me was a 416 area code, it would have been 9:30pm Toronto time. Looks like I'm calling CIBC tomorrow, it was super sketchy!
800-741-4591 CIBC has been calling us every day like clockwork at 7PM for a couple of months now. We have never answered the phone and we have never had any business whatsoever with CIBC. No idea why they would be calling us or how they got our number? We are extremely annoyed by this, and if CIBC thinks this is a good marketing strategy, they are hugely mistaken. After this I would never ever consider dealing with that organization and am telling everyone I know the same. I hope this puts them out of business. Anyway, I see lots of people here annoyed about it, but I haven't read anything that tells us how to stop them!! Surely there must be a way?
Saw the call but ignored it. As a rule unless I know the number I don't take the call. No voicemail left
I received a call from this number last week and was skeptical as everyone else here. They only asked for postal code and birthdate to confirm they were speaking to me. They did not ask for account numbers as they already told me my balance and last payment information on my credit card (again they did NOT ask for account numbers). I was still skeptical as they are a lot of convincing scammers out there so while I was on the phone I went onto the actual CIBC website ans verified via live chat with a CIBC rep that this was in fact a legitimate CIBC call. I am very glad to confirm I was approved for a consolidation loan and paid off all my credit cards two days ago due to my answering this call. It IS an outbound sales call so they WILL try to sell you every financial product they offer but it is worth talking to them if you are in need of financial services.
This number IS from a CIBC Company. They are officially referred to by CIBC main customer support as "Outbound Marketing" conducted by a "CIBC Company."You can request that all "Outbound Calls" be stopped by requesting on the call, or better yet (dealing with a CSA who isn't actively on soul-sucking outbound marketing duties) call the main CS number on the back of your credit/debit card to make that request to an CS Agent. If you do request to have all outbound calls to you stopped by CIBC and CIBC Companies you will be told that it may take up to 30 days to have your account removed from the call rotation. The CSA have all been polite and helpful, my only issue is with the automated dialer that always calls at the same time regardless of what day it is.
I have been receiving calls on my cell from this number for the last week, I don't answer and they don't never leave a message. The calls are always at night. From what a I read below - whoever it is - is up to it again. Be careful everyone - If you receive a call from any credit card company, or this number and they ask for personal information, tell them you will call them back on the number on the back of your card. If it is scam, they won't call you back, if it is your credit card company they will be fine with it. You can never be too careful with personal information.
"I have been getting calls from this number as well. I called back, they said it was the Outgoing CIBC Number. I hung up after being asked for my account number."I had the same experience, my call blocker dropped the call based on my preference settings. I called them back and had some stupid Indian (he could barely speak English) tell me they were calling on behalf of CIBC.I requested to be put on the internal DNC, they told me that in order to do so I would have to give them my account number and pin so they could “verify my identity”THIS IS A SCAM CALL - GIVE THEM NOTHING!!!!!
