The number may be a legitimate number for Chase but the person calling is a scammer. Chase does not call random people. I received a call and I have NEVER had any kind of acct with Chase. Whoever is on this site trying to convince all of you that this is on the up and up is also a scammer. NEVER GIVE THESE [***] YOUR INFORMATION. Simply do not answer the phone.
It is a scam. The 1800945-2000 is a Chase Bank number but that is not who is calling you. No bank ever calls to see if they can lower your interest rate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My caller had 218 area code and gave me the same 800-945-2000 to call back. He said his company is Card Members Services out of Washington DC. He hung up as i was asking more questions. Scam for sure.
What you're not getting is that the caller gives you a real, working phone number for Chase or some other bank. Essentially, the caller, who IS a scammer and is phishing for your financial information, realizes its best to end the call (this is a two-call scam). At that point, (s)he gives you a real working phone number and if you call it, you'll think the call was indeed from the bank. They may then try again with the same shpiel because at this point, you'll believe they are legitimate.
THIS IS TERRIBLE SCAMMERS ON THE LOOSE AGAIN THE NUMBER APPEARED ON MY CELL PHONE CALLER ID AS 1 713-000-0000 TEXAS, tHEY HAVE BEEN ALSO CALLING MY HOME NUMBER AS WELL..... SMH THE GUY THAT CALLED ALSO GAVE ME A CALL BACK NUMBER OF 800-945-2000.........
Scammer is onto a new trick. Called and played a robo call message about pressing 1 if I had shopped at Target between Thanksgiving and just before Christmas. I guess they wanted my card info? I didn'r get to hear all of the message - it cut off and hung up on me when I pressed 1 to speak to a live associate. The number comes back as not in service when called back.
Unsolicited final notice to my cell phone to take advantage of a credit offer.
A man named Paul Obrien phoned me from this number and said he is with Chase Legal. He proceeded to say that I owe money and that I needed to contact CCS because they are suing me for a credit card transfer from this company that we were told is a fraud. Mr. Obrien said that I needed to call before 6:00 tonight. The number he told me to return the call to him is a mobile phone number, 646-571-5860. The credit card was through Bank of America.
SCAM - just contacted Chase and no one can lower APR over the phone
Interesting. 800-945-2000 is the number printed on the back of both of my Chase CCs. It is most definitely a Chase number.
