Capital One has absolutely EVERY right to contact its customers. The Do Not Call list does NOT apply if you have (or have had) a Capital One card. I wish that paranoid, mentally-defective people would CHECK CAPITAL ONE'S WEBSITE. The main number for credit cards? 800-955-7070. Other people *may* have a different number on the backs of their CapOne cards, owing to specific state of residence or type of card, so that their calls are routed properly for regulatory compliance (Arkansas is a messed up state, and has some [***] laws, for instance) or because they have a high-end or low-market card, etc.Capital One is a big company, and may be calling you for one of many different reasons. Customer service survey, fraud detection, upgrade offers, you were an idiot and left your card at the check out at Walgreens again, you haven't activated your new card and your current card is about to expire, you haven't paid your bill in a few months, they need to confirm purchases that are out of your usual spending pattern (Did our 80 y/o customer in Des Moines really make that purchase in Singapore? Did she make a purchase in Syracuse, NY?) to say nothing of sales calls.Sooooo..long story short. Yes, you call back. More often than not, you speak with some overseas 'person' who doesn't know why you received a call, unless there's something glaringly obvious in front of her. But some other department *is* trying to reach you. Here's an idea. When they call back, answer the telephone, see what reason they have for calling you. If it sounds legit, good! Respond accordingly. If you're concerned, that's fair. Ask if the agent can note the front of your account in a way that regular customer service can see it if you call right back. Give it ten minutes. Call the number on the back of your card. Problem solved.
this is capital one. They left a message stating they had sent a duplicate statement for April. Didn't ask for me to call back, they were just letting me know to disregard if I get a duplicate statement. This call to me was NOT a scam.
Answered this call, it was actually a very nice and helpful lady from Capital One asking if my new card had been lost or stolen, as it had not been activated. I had indeed received a new card from them a few weeks previously and had not activated it, so it was actually a REAL phone call! She was very friendly, and had I not been travelling across the country and in a different time zone, it would have been 7:38pm instead of 9:38pm local time when she called, so not bad at all. I thanked her for following up on my new account, and she assured me that I would not receive any other unnecessary calls (though I did not ask). I wish I could remember her name.I think this is the first time that a legitimate call was received! :)
I received several unsolicited calls from this number. They just call and hang up. If anybody knows how to make this stop, please share your information. Thank you.
