We recived a call from 800 955-7070 and they were asking for information about our credit card. We informed them that we do not give out info to call made to us and hung up. we also sent in the telephone number to Capital One Fraud line. Then we called Capitial One and personally reported it. Come to find out this number is a Capital One tele-marketer department. What ever happened to the no call list we belong to?

I JUST SMILE WHEN A BLOCKED CALL COMES IN.TO EVERYONE: +++++++BEING ANGRY OR UPSET WILL NOT HELP YOU!!!! *********YOU MUST BE PRO-ACTIVE!!!++++++PLEASE READ BELOW!FACT 1 - the DNC list CLEARLY does not work! Everyone knows this...or should know this!FACT 2 - filing a complaint with the FCC does not work! A total and complete waste of time. Done that.FACT 3 - having an unlisted phone will not help you.FACT 4 - asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list – you’ll get laughed at!FACT 5 - no "class action" law suits are being filed and certainly, none are being LITIGATED. FACT 6 – contacting the BBB – LAUGHABLE!!! PURCHASE A CALL BLOCKING TELEPHONE!!! Call blocking phones are very inexpensive $40-$60 and they come with, at least, one wireless handset. STOP COMPLAINING!BUY A CALL BLOCKING PHONE!Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones. They’re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset. COSTCO & AMAZON SELL THEM. They work beautifully! These phones also block “PRIVATE,” “OUT OF AREA” and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!I have had the same home number and the same business phone number for over 15 years and my home and my business lines (both published) seem to be on every call list imaginable. I bought a Panasonic call blocking phone for my home and I bought a Uniden call blocking telephone for my business.NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH TELEMARKETERS. THEY CAN’T GET THROUGH!We can stop these telemarketers IF we all buy a call blocking phone.***********NOTHING ELSE WILL STOP THESE TELEMARKETERS! **********

I got a call from this number today. They had the last 4 #s of my credit card and wanted to verify that I was the right person with my bday. It creeped me out and we ended the call. I called the Capt1 number on the back of the credit card (not the same number I received a call from) and spoke to a representative. They confirmed that I did receive a call from them today to confirm the new credit card arrived. But still, seemed weird and they've never needed to confirm that before.

Same number on the caller id and the card doesn't mean anything, as any smartphones now can use a fake caller ID app to appear as if a call was coming from any other number they want. There are also plenty of services that do this online (just google caller id faker). So, I still wouldn't trust them. The safest way would be to call THEM back at the real number and you know you've got Capital One.

Funny, This is the # I had to call to activate the new card from cap. one. I believe it to be legit but that doesn't mean they can call me any time and ask for my personal info.

1-800-955-7070- This number called me and left a message. Said he was Alvin from the fraud detection program at capital one that they needed to verify my information on my visa application and to call back 1-800-239-7054 with a case number! I next morning I received an email from capital stating my card had been shipped! Obviously didn't need any further information from me. I have emailed capital one.

They left a message on our voice mail looking for a name that sounded similar to mine and said it was not a sales call. If there was some issue, I would have gotten backup email. There was no Issue and after looking online I saw all of the pages of complaints. They are now blocked. BTW, the called ID just said 800 Service.

I just recieved a call from 800 955 7070 claiming to be Capital. Its not Capital One calling. Do not give them your credit card number!!!!!!!! I just got off the phone with Capital One to report this number to the fraud department. They said they will never call anyone asking for your credit card number. Credit card companys only have one number, always call the number on the back of your card.

OR maybe, the person with the number before you isn't paying their bills...

This is Capital One and it is legit. This number is also on their site for credit limit increases, some customer service issues, etc.
