must be going though numbers by area codes, I just got a call but couldn't hear much. Freaked me out a bit.
My wife and I each received this call today ( 18 may 2010). I played along with the automated system entering random digits for each question; 16 digit card number, 4 digit expiration date, 3 digit CVC, and even my four digit pin. they asked me to hold a minute while they "verified" the info, then came back on to say my card had been reinstated. Definitely a scam, I hope nobody falls for this one.
just got a call from 817-688-7853 stating that my back card had been deactivated due to a bank security problem and press 1 to re-activate. Of course I just hung up but called my bank just to confirm all was ok. I then called the number and it went to someone's voice mail ( a woman's name). Hmmmmm
Got a call May 18, 2:18pm. Message saying my Mobil Credit Union, ATM card had been deactivated due to fraudulent use. I have never had any kind of Mobil card. Somebody catch these jerks.
Also from Fort Wayne.Received a phone call to my husbands cell phone about 15 minutes ago. Did not answer, and when he called back, it said it was not a working number.
Got a call on Sunday night at 7 pm...saying I needed to reactivate my ATM card by entering the card number. I hung up. Told two freinds about it, they called it a scam. I knew better so I did not enter my ATM number. Thank God. :) Jerks.
So, I get a call and I intentionally take the bait.First they tell me about how my ATM card was deactivated for a bank I've never heard of. So, I play the game. I press "1" to re-activate my card. Then they ask me to enter my card number. I oblige: "5555 5555 5555 5555"They ask for the expiration date on the card. I oblige: "05/12"They ask for the PIN #. I oblige "5555"So, at this point I'm asking myself... is there anyone out there that would really fall for this?????Them computer then says, "please wait while we validate your card"{Pause}"Your card has been validated. There is no further action required on your part"These guys might be smart... but they're lazy.
That number has been circulating from a variety of claims from ATM cards to credit cards. My company just received an advisory warning from the issuer of our corporate cards. The instance that happened within the company was this particular reported number.
Yes, got a robocall today stating "Your Visa debit card has been cancelled due to fraud" , then it asked me to enter my card number if I wanted to reinstate the debit card. Fraud + fraud=scam
