Thanks for the information! I can always count on this site to have the low down on unlisted numbers.
came up burlington ky...yes...i am sure it is another one of hundreds of numbers they use...they are trying to collect on a debt that is over 16 years old....the bottom of the bottom feeders....think i will send a cease and assist letter for them to sign for so that they can no longer call us...and if they do..they can be sued and people have won!!! will look into it further.....
This company has more than half a dozen... I've ID'd and blocked 15 numbers in six states so far, and I doubt that's all of them. And, yes, they are the bottom feeders. You can't shut them up- they simply get another number to call from.
Debt Collectors, huh! Amazing! I have no credit card debt, always pay obligations on time and never had anyone challenge me in matters of debt in general. Must be very desperate to continue this harassment and this company calling from Kentucky, must be a bunch of uneducated red neck jerks doing a mundane stupid job that any well trained chimp could do it better. To bad that the Federal DNC system is ineffective as I have been on it for over 15 years and used to get calls daily from people like this until I finally got a blocked call system. This is first time I received this call from PRA but of course my phone system blocked it. I never answer these so called legal calls as it rings twice then stops since the system is working. In desperate times, jerks like this take desperate measures to earn a lousy living like this; harassing people. You would think that the person who sued them and won $83 million would cease making these calls to us but stupid is as stupid does! Right? Right!!
now they are calling from this number, but i have at least three others they have called me from. They are talking about a credit card from 2001 (over 12 years ago!!!) that I allegedly opened, but have never sent documentation of what they are referring to just a letter demanding payment and an amount. Previous calls from them with the information that they had was not even mine - wrong SSN, wrong DOB, wrong address (I have never ever lived in Kansas). told them that unless they could send me documentation proving that was my account to stop contacting m - OR ELSE
I always research all unknown numbers on caller id and then block them. They are wasting their time.
I got about a total of three calls from them all on fathers day. They did not respect any of that at all. I nevet answer and i cant block because its always on a new number but always the same caller ID portfolio recovery.
Caller ID showed Kentucky call...left no message. Don't kown anyone in Kentucky. DNC list doesn't do anything...getting numerous calls since we entered our number on the so called "NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY". What a joke they are
Portfolio Recovery has been calling my house phone since I got a new number nearly 10 years ago. The first time they called, I didn't have Caller ID, so I answered it. Bad mistake. They were looking for someone who wasn't me and owed a debt from 1994. They bullied me to pieces after I told them they had the wrong number, telling me I was a liar and they knew I was this person they were looking for, and that if I didn't pay this debt, they would sue me. I told them to go ahead and sue me then, because since it wasn't my name they were asking for, it wouldn't have any effect on me. They hung up on me after that. They stopped calling for about 3 years, then one afternoon, just after I got married, I saw their name on the ID. I picked up, expecting it to be another call for the wrong person and was ready to tell them off again. Here, it was for someone with the same name as me. My new name that I had literally just changed legally about 2 weeks before. I told them there was no way this was my debt. They told me again they'd sue me. I asked them to read me the SSN associated with the account and I'd tell them if it was mine. They wanted me to tell them my SSN instead. I told them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine and hung up.Since then. they have called me 4 times a day for months at a time, and then all of a sudden the calls will just stop. Sometimes for weeks, sometimes for months I won't see their name come up. Then just as abruptly as they ended, the calls start again. Always from different numbers, in different area codes, in completely different areas of the country. Last year, during the fit of politicial calls that would come in non-stop, these idiots called me 9 times in a 15 minute period - AFTER 10pm at night. I picked up the phone on the 9th call and told them flat out 'I do not acknowledge whatever debt you're calling about. That said, whatever hypothetical, non-existent debt you are calling about is more than likely more than 4 years old and cannot be collected as per my state's statute of limitations law. Also, the time is 10:15pm. Can you hear the federal government calling to shut you down? If not, they will be soon since you are calling outside the national call guidelines. Have a nice mf'ing night!' and then I hung up. After that incident, I contacted the FTC, my state's AG office, the phone company and anyone else I could think of to report these jerks. I was advised to make a call log on paper, take photos of my Caller ID and if I catch the call before another call comes in, to dial a certain number to report it to the phone company as well. I had no calls after January of this year from these people. Until today. Apparently, they will never learn their lesson. *sigh*
If you don't even know who called you why are blaming the DNC Registry? Do you actually know what the purpose of the DNC is and how it is administered? Go to the FTC/DNC registry and under frequently asked Q&As READ!! The DNC Registry was established for Legitimate Telemarketers, to limit their telemarketing calls to people who do not wish to receive them. The FTC/DNC defines Telemarketing as follows: Telemarketing = Telephone Sales of Goods or Services Did you caller attempt to sell you goods or services? It does not immunize you against all of your unwanted calls. The telephone call that you are now complaining about is from Portfolio Recovery Associates.....A Debt Collector. Debt collectors are not Telemarketers and as such are not covered under the DNC....
