Called claiming that a 'firewall was disabled on my home computer'. She got nowhere. Asked what company she was with, "I'm with a premium technical support company." "I'm sorry, I don't recognize that name." "Sir, there are millions of companies that you don't know about." "Oh, I see, that's great. Look, this isn't working, sorry, and-" *click*
Got the same call - guy with Indian Accent saying my computer and firewall had been compromised. I enjoyed getting aggressive with him to by asking him when he hacked into my system and was intercepting packets between my PC and ISP. He said 'he was not on my PC, he just new...cause he was with Windows Legal'! When he said the solution was for me to turn on my PC and let him know when, it was obvious he wanted to remote into my PC. I told him it must be tough where he was but he shouldn't steal from people. I called him a scumbag and hung up :)It scares me to think how this would have gone down if it were my elderly neighbor...
Have gotten several calls from this number on my land line. Last time I played along till I got tired and hung up. Today he called me on my cell. I just hung up.
Same story as above, but the funny thing is that he said his name was James Craig. I applaud those who have to do unpleasant work to put food on their table, so I don't treat callers disrespectfully. But isn't there a way to stop these scams which are sure to catch un-savvy people?
Just got the call on my cell, it's crazy seeing people just minutes ago getting the same calls.Same M.O. Male, Indian accent, claims to be from PC Solutions and says something is wrong. He hung up on me at the first hint of skepticism.
Called with scam about the computer. Told him I knew he was scamming. Seemed like he was just entertaining himself. finally I said he is wasting both of our time, and hung up. He called back over and over and over.
Indian accent or [***] not sure but he said "im calling you because your computer is running a windows virus .exe and I can fix it. Open your computer for me to fix it.Didnt know how he knew i had a laptop or how my cell is related to it. I just laughed and hung up.
He said hello. Claimed to be calling about my computer and he was from Windows. I asked who are you trying to reach, he said you. I asked again if your from Microsoft and your calling about a trouble ticket you'll know my name. He insisted he was calling me. I finally replied that I was a salad County State District judge and before I could finish that I was referring his number to the DA. He hung up.For the record in an election judge which technically on election day makes me a state district judge for a day in Texas. So there is a ring of truth. I used to be a IT manager for a long distance company, written many dos device drivers, I know dos, Novell, Unix, linux and Windows pretty well myself, lol.
