Caller ID shows Bristol CT female caller with accent identified herself as calling from "Geek Support" because my computer has been sending error messages." I hung up.
Caller was man with heavy Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from PC Solutions or something similar and that he'd identified a problem with my PC. I asked him to hold on and connected him to The Jolly Roger Telephone Company at 214-666-4321, which is a robot designed to harass telemarketers. It was hilarious. I muted myself and listened in while the caller asked the robot to manage himself and go to the computer. After 7 minutes he hung up frustrated.
This showed up as a call from China. It didn't show up as 860-540-6999, it showed up as this: +86 (0) 540-6999Either way, we didn't answer it, as I'm NOT about to answer a strange number on my cel phone from bloody China!
Love it! I was visiting sister-in-law in WY when she got thus exact same call. She did like you and the last couple minutes spent asking him if his mother knew what he was up to and if he'd been to church lately, etc.. LOL He politely said good bye and hung up.
I told him that I knew he was a scammer and didn't know anything about my computer. He then told me that he wasn't calling about the computer. He was calling to flirt with me. I said, "Right!" and hung up.
If you stay on the like they eventually give it to you, it's part of the scam.. I received the same IP
Man with an accent (Indian, perhaps?) mentioned something about my computer. I declined whatever it was he was offering. Looking above, it seems that my inability to understand the gentleman saved me a protracted conversation.
Just got a call saying my windows computer is infected. Told them I didn't have a Windows but a Mac. Even though I don't! Suddenly they changed tactics and told me all computers connected to the Internet were infected! I td her I knew this was a scam and I don't need any help from her as I work in IT! She hung up on me.
