This number is a fraud. Asked me for the last 6 digits of my social. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. call the number on thx back of your card
********************FRAUD****************************11/10/2010This is a fraud. They will give you the last 3 digits of your checking and say it is fraud prevention from CHASE. When you call a nice lady will answer and ask for your card number, name, and address....I hung up and called the number on the back of my debit card... They said it is a fraud. Call the number on the back of your card and find out yourself...
this is a legit number for the fraud dpt., called the # on back of card who confirmed # then transferred me to that dpt. they were confirming an out of sequence check.
This is legit, they dont ask for full numbers of anything. Just enough for verification. They called the day after I scheduled a wire online. Why do people post that it is a fraudulent number when they haven't been ripped off... it confuses and breeds paranoia. If you're unsure double check with Chase... but Im not sure what someone can do with the last 4 digits of your debit card.
Completely legit. They do ask for a lot of information to verify, but Chase verified with me that it was a real number. NOT A SCAM.
I had the same call, yes it is a legitimate number, but it raises a lot of questions as a customer. I called back and the gentleman on the other end wanted my banking info. to check what the issue was. I'm not accustomed to providing my account info. over the phone to anyone even an employee of the bank. If there is an issue they will should provide you with a case number and use that case number to give you additional information about what may be happening. They never ask for your bank account number. Employee or not we do not know now a-days if the person on the other end may be honest or not. For all we know they can be working for the bank and trying to obtain bank info from customers for fraudulent purposes. I'm not saying that this is the case but one can never be too careful. Better safe than sorry.
I got a call as well from this number claiming to be Chase. The caller sounded sketchy so I hung up on him. I called Chase to verify and they said the department had no intentions of calling me and said it was fraud.
I don't care the number is Chase's. CallerID numbers can be spoofed and the correct way to handle this is to call Chase using the number on the back of your credit card and not the number on CallerID or a number the caller gives you.
Its a legitimate call from Chase loss prevention. I called my branch and verified the number. They did ask for my account number as well as a host of other information to verify my identity. They called to verify the validity of a $500+ check I authorized online to pay a relative's electric bill. I think its great Chase took this action to protect me and my account.
