This is NOT a genuine Chase number. They asked for my card number (which was suspicious) and told me I had a fraud alert on my account. I hung up and called Chase directly. I have three accounts with them. None of them had fraud alerts associated with them. Chase told me they will never ask for my card number since they already have it (and auto-recognize phone numbers). I called the 877 number back and asked them to verify that they are a real Chase number. The woman stuttered and told me to call the number on the back of my card. I said, "Isn't there any way you can prove to me that you're actually a Chase division?" She simply repeated that I should call the number on my card. It's a total scam. Don't give them any information. If you get a call from this "Chase" number, I would recommend calling the number on your card or account instead of this one. You'll avoid a big hassle that way!
I received a call saying they were trying to verify a check that they flagged as potentially fraudulent. I said I hadn't written the check and then they tried to ask me for personal information. I hung up at that point.I called Chase using an official number through the mobile app, they said they didn't show any checks being written by me, and also that they didn't have any record of trying to contact me.
It's not Chase bank. MDVIP, which is a medical program, returned my call from this number.
Well this is a Chase fraud prevention number. I called the Chase customer service number on my statement and they verified that. However, the potential crooks who left me a message on my machine may have intentionally left a Chase number so that they could call back and I would would think they were the real Chase. If anyone one calls you asking for account info, tell them you will call them back and do so at a number you have personnally verified for the claimed caller.Same thing happened, supposedly from E-Trade, but when I called back at a number from my statement they said there was no issue on the account.Although my machine took the message, I don't see the call listed on my caller ID record!?!
It is not a fraudulent number. I called Chase via the number on the back of my card to verify. It is their fraud hotline. They left me a voice mail and asked that I call this 877 (option 3) number to verify a wire transfer I scheduled earlier in the day.
This was Chase Bank calling to verify I sent money 15 minutes after I wired a large sum of money.
It's definitely Chase Fraud Protection. They called me to verify a wire transfer. They even sent me an identification number via text to my cell prior to discussing the specifics.
NOT Chase and Chase verified the number is NOT them. This is a scammer calling from a similar number but not chase. I only contact my local branch and my personal banker when I get calls like these. Go into your bank and get to know your local Chase people as they have a local branch number and will know who you are when you call.
I don't know, called the number back and after giving them my name they immediately asked for my account number. After I told them I didn't have it handy they asked for my SSN or debit card number. No thanks, I'll call the number on the back of my card.
Google search showed this answer on the top, and I was frightened because I just gave all personal info to the person on this # (I thought that I got scammed). 877-691-8086 is the legit Chase number for Online Fraud team. But I do agree that everyone should follow this person's advice if you have to contact Chase
