this number called my phone 11 times in under 2 minutes before 7am!! Nobody was there when picked up...
I think you are correct. It could be the case. Vast majority of people do not understand it nor they have time to think about these things. All kind of games go on!!
This showed up on my Caller ID at AT&T. I have no contracts with that company so have blocked the number.
Have received 2 calls today. The last one, I answered and the man on the other end burped and then preceded to say hello. I hung up! Sounded like he was calling from a bar with all of the background noise! I have no idea who this is calling but I want it stopped NOW!!!
Called me 5 times this am. Did not pu the first 3. No one on the other line. Reported it to do not call and blocked it.
I received 6 phones calls on Saturday from 888-888-8888 and 4 today alone. I've answered once and heard nothing. It's getting really annoying.

Got a letter that said I applied for an AMAZON card. Called the number to inquire what this was for, they started asking for personal information. When I said no they hung up on me.

Scam debit collector. I say 'scam' because I don't have a credit card, loan, lease, tuition, or debit or any kind. I own my home, vehicle, and everything in them. There's not a single reason for a debit collector to be calling me.
