Got a call from 888-918-7313 claimed to be the secruity company working for my credit union (My CU closed 1 hour and 13 minutes before this call was made to me). The woman who spoke in a very thick incomprehensible accent, asked me my name, DOB, last 4 of SS# (all fairly harmless info). She then asked me the security code off of my card and I told her I didn't think that was any of their business. She hung up on me, so I have to guess this was a scam.
They asked some seemingly okay questions, SS# last 4, full birthdate, phone number, but when they asked me for the full account number, I ended the call. I called my CU and they said that I did the right thing, as this number is known for scams. Yikes!
There are a lot of "fake" credit union web sites out there that post this number on their pages to make it look legit. Beware!!!
Anyone from (888) 918-7313 saying that they are doing a "routine security check" or any other topic - ARE OUT TO STEAL FROM YOU. They have their employees POST "it's okay" messages on this very log (and others). They are attempting to refute the warning messages on this and other logs. There are many "FAKE" credit union web sites that reference this number - purely to make you think it is legit. You have been warned!
They left a message saying they were calling on behalf of BECU to verify my credit card usage. They called me by the wrong name, & I don't have an account with BECU. I did not return the call. Sounds phishy to me.
This number is right and the people there are not fake. I just had this happen to me and called the number on the back of the bank debit card to verify. The ladt even told me she seen in there system that there security and or fruad department had tried to contact me, which she then told me that we had talked and they found everything to be ok. So my credit card company new if them and said they were ok. they never asked for my full account number only, my birthday and last four of SSN. They see asked me on three items that were purchased withen the last two days were from me, which she got right and I told he yes, end of story. But yeah unless its the number on the back of your bank card asking for your full card number then dont give it out.
Hi, the number is legit - i got a voicemail from them after making a bunch of purchases stating they want to verify the activity on my card. I called my bank, BECU - they confirmed this number is from their card verification services and transferred me directly to them.
Message left twice in one week from 888-918-7313. Calling for my credit union (mentioned name) to do a routine security on my Visa card. Left call back number (888-918-7313) and Case number to assure there is no interruption to my VISA service. I suspected this was not a legitmate call.I looked and my recent activity and recognized all the charges. Called my Credit Union and they verified that their Security did call me twice to check on three charges that were out of my normal spending history. It happened that there were a couple of online purchases from different geographic locations mingled in with my local charges. All was okay. I am relieved. The original two calls were legitmate.
I was contacted on a Saturday by "Patricia" who left a message stating that she was calling on behalf of my credit union to conduct a routine security check. I needed to contact one of their agents to prevent an interruption in service. What was disconcerting was that they had my name and also the name of my credit union. They also called on my cell phone which is not a "known" number. I just called my credit union, and the teller confirmed that this was indeed a "phishing scam". I provided the information to her so hopefully others will be notified before it becomes an issue.
