Got a message from this number with a case number. Mentioned my credit union in the message. Logged onto my credit union account and found a couple of charges from "CROWNE PLAZA #1375508771, BROAD RUN. VA" for $4.78 each. Never been there. Called this number and spoke to a helpful guy who was calling about just those two charges. Told him they weren't mine, and we'll cancel the card. Good service. Even though I check my card transactions every week or two, I appreciated getting the call.
9 dec 2009According to my CU, not a fraud. But the way the person proceeds with the conversation raises suspicions . . . . sounded like one of those folks half way around the world that so many businesses farm out their customer support to, who read from technical manuals, but can't ever answer technical questions. She claimed to be calling about a charge on my credit card, and when they started wanting some personal verification info I asked how I could know it was a legitimate call. The woman told me I could verify it with my CU, so I did. And the charge in question was not one I had made. Still, there is something about the way they handle their calls that does raise suspicions.
Yes. We've had illegitimate charges identified and stopped before. But, I never return these calls in case they might be fraud. I always call the issuing bank (on the back of the card) and they are always able to clear suspicious activity. I repeat: I would never follow the instructions given on a call made to me. I want to initiate calls regarding my finances.
Said for us to call them right away. This was a security check on our M/C from Va. Cr Union they also said to mention a security number when we called.
This is a valid phone call. This company is hired by Credit Unions to monitor your account for suspicious activity. I just recieved a call this morning, 2/7, inquiring about some unusual charges just made this morning for approx. $372 in flower purchases which I did not make..... I am glad they called. My credit card # was shut down immediately and I will NOT be liable for these costs. And yes, they called on a Sunday and again, I'm glad they did as credit card thefts do not take breaks over the weekend....
It wasn't a scam for me. there were several fraudulent charges made to my debit card, so I am very happy I called the number back.A big thanks to my credit union for having my back!!
got a call from 888 918 7313 reporting suspicious activity on a credit card issued by my credit union; left msg that gave their name as Falcon Security; called the credit union and they do use Falcon; was transfered to security and once they verified my info, reported several suspicious $99 charges from an online company I had never heard of; credit cards cancelled and report files
This number isn't fraudulent. It called me and left a message about asecurity issue with myour visa. I called the number on the back of my card. They told me there was suspected fraud on my card and that number was their fraud division.
This is legit. Falcon is a department within the nation's largest CUSO, servicing over 500 credit unions nation wide. If you have a debit or credit card with a credit union, chances are the Falcon neural network monitors your cards 24/7. However, do be aware of scammers. A Falcon representative will NEVER ask you for your account #. They have that already. If they speak to you, you will be asked a few standard security questions and they review transactions only. If a message is left and you call back, they will ask you to provide the PHONE # you got a message on. Again, never give out your account #. If the voice on the other side is asking for it, its likely a scam.
