Called to report that my account was being put on "protective hold" right after I placed an on-line order. This is at night, after my ban was closed and with no way to verify anything. Wouldn't give his name, employee number or any other pertinent information. I will confirm with my bank tomorrow, but it stinks of a scam.
This was legit. I got a message on my answering machine where the caller stated that she was calling on behalf of my Credit Union. I called the Credit Union and they verifed that the call came from them and connected me with the security department. They asked me for the case number that was given by the caller then asked me to verify some recent charges.
I thought that it was a scam too, since they called me @ my mom's + I haven't lived there in 3 years. I called the 800-number on the back of my card and apparently they were telling the truth. Wierd!
No, it's not. I'm a customer of SFCU and before returning back the call I called SFCU. They've confirmed that this is legit and redirected my call to that number and they've verified my credit card transactions with me.
This is VISA Falcon service. If they see an unusual charge or activity on your CC that doesn't match your regular spending patterns, they will call you. They *WILL* leave a message if you don't pick up, with a name and callback number. If you're leery, call your CU and ask them for the VISA Falcon toll free number. It'll be this one!Legit. Don't believe the scare mongers.
The number is legitimate. This company is contracted by various financial institutions for security. I bank with BECU and they just wanted to confirm a transaction because I had tried to place the order with the wrong expiration date (oops). They ask for the number they called you at (if you missed their call), your name, last 4 of your social, and birth date to confirm your identity.
this is a legitimate number. They do good work. First call awhile back stopped someone from using my credit card number. On today's call, they were valid charges but I'm glad they're checking.
Completely legitimate. This is PSCU financial services - falcon fraud department. PSCU also does 24 hour customer service for your credit union, call and ask if you are unsure, that is the best way. Yes they are open 24/7/365 even on holidays, that means Sundays too, they will call you up until 9 PM.... your credit union does not have to be open for them to be there!! Anytime you can use your credit or debit card they are there, making sure there is no fraud on your card. In fact, half the time when you call ''your credit union'' you are probably speaking with PSCU. Sometimes the charges they ask you about may seem normal for you, but to their computer there is something flagging it. No need to be concerned. Again, ASK!!! While you're at it on here: www.pscufs.com. I did my research!
In my case this call was legit as well regarding my account with Comstar FCU. After I ignored the initial call I received a letter stating my account had been put on hold and sure enough my debit card was no longer active. I called and we ran through the last month of transactions, finding several I had not made in a state I have never been to, and cancelled the card.
