Just received this call from an Indian man named "Henry". He claimed to be from Microsoft technical support and said our computer had been affected with all kinds of malware and viruses, and it was bound to crash any minute. He said he was supposed to call and fix it for us. There were lots of other Indian voices in the call center in the background. I played along for a few minutes but then told him that I didn't believe that he was calling from Microsoft. He insisted he was and so I asked where they were based - his answer was Brooklyn New York. Right. I mentioned that was a fairly expensive area to be running a call center from. Eventually I told him we were running Macintosh so I was pretty sure he was not from Microsoft, then the other line rang so wished him a nice day and hung up on him. Not sure how the scam works but it is definitely not legit.
They keep calling every day and if I answer or not they call. I have told them to stop. I already reported them once and told them. They still harass me.
These people keep calling 999-910-0122 everyday several times and we cant report there number to the do not call list.
They've called us many times over the last week. When my wife and I both confronted them...told them to get out of here...the calls stopped for about a day and half. They called again today...my wife answered...she asked where they were calling from...she could hear the person on the other end ask "What should I say...what should I say?" to someone in the background...the "supervisor" replied "Just tell her England"...then she got back on the line and repeated "England".This time...she had a Spanish accent. SCAM!!
I received call yesterday from this 999-910-0122 - stating Microsoft and my computer was going to crash - It was a female - to me it was a Chinese accent but could have been India - and like other post lot of noise in the back ground - I say ya right I don't believe you and hung up. When you call the # back it says out of order - I think I have seen this # before on my caller ID - I have re-registered my #'s on the do not call list. I have also notified Microsoft.
Multi calls that start with Dead Air, then a ring & a wait for a pick up. Very Heavy India Accent calling from Micro Soft with lots of back ground noises of thousands making the same call. File a complaint @ DoNotCall because asking them to stop calling only issues more calls. so annoying
Recieved two calls today from this number, 2nd call came about 2 hours after the first. Lots of background noise in the calls, obviously calling from a large room with lots of people in it. Both callers were male, had heavy Indian accents. Only let callers get as far as saying they were from something that sounded like "Windows Internet Security company"... I've been through this kind of crap before, and what they typically try to scare you with some malarky about how your computer is malfunctioning and setting off alarms throughout the world, then they want you to login someplace and run a "diagnostic". BE WARNED -- this is beyond doubt a scam, and following their instructions will most likely result in you downloading malicious software that will either completely and totally steal your identity as you login to banking, social networks, or other sites that you legitimately use, and/or place your computer under a remote user's control, and/or turn your computer into a "bot" to send out malicious software and email spam to other people. DO NOT EVER DO WHAT THESE PEOPLE ASK.Oh, and I told both callers that I would not talk to them and to not call my number again. I don't think the workers who place these calls know that they are working for criminals, the second caller actually apologized to me when I told him I'd already told somebody else not to call my number again. And yes, these people are calling from outside the US, and are pretty much untouchable by US law. The best thing we can do is to note that the call originates from an invalid area code, and not answer the phone in the first place.
That number called me every 30 to 60 min all day. I finally answered and they sort of replied to my "Hi" and hung up. The 2nd time I said nothing and it disconnected imediately. I did hear all the backround noise on both calls... like a call center. Now to make sure no mysterious chages show up on my next bill for some 999 number!
