This number has called me four tomes so far today. There is no response when I say HELLO.I called my phone service provider (TWC); they said to go online to their site; go to "My Services", then "Voice Zone" and then to SELECTIVE CALL BLOCKING. I can block that individual number.
The caller just calls and says" hello" then doesn't leave a message This has happened several times today.
Called my cell phone 19 times in 3 days. I haven't answered, they haven't left a message. Trying to find a way to block the number.
That's a good question. The Do Not Call List is applicable to callers who are subject to the laws of the United States (including callers in countries who have a treaty with the U.S. about obeying its telecom laws). I surmise that most third-world countries (including India) do not obey U.S. telecom laws---as your experience would indicate. Also, FYI, the Do Not Call List is not applicable to business phone lines (and most callers cannot determine in advance whether a cell phone is for business or not). In addition, there are some types of calls which are still permitted (like surveys), even though they are often used to camouflage telemarketing calls.So, to answer your question, being on the Do Not Call List helps, but it is not a 100% solution.
this does not work, because 999-0122 as you try to put in comes back as an invalid number
I received calls from this number several times over the past couple of days. I ignored most of the calls and answered several - no one on the other end.
I also got a call and the woman at the other end said that she was from Microsoft Windows Corporation and that my computer was giving many error messages. She said my computer was heafly infected. She said she wanted to help me fix it. When I questioned her she indicated that I was "stupid" to not let her help me. When I said that she was now insulting me she hung up.
