They call me too! indian guy telling me I have a computer problem. or sometimes it's just a robotic voice that says "good bye"
Offer them $100 to get written instructions on what to do and you'd like to send it directly to them, get their address then you got something to give to the authorities.
Caller insistant we turn computers on because there had been a security breach in the Microsoft Software.
keep getting cal from this number and I yell into the phone to stop calling me but no good so far.
Today I received a call from 999-910-0122. Of course, the caller ID showed it as name unavailable. Some Indian (from India ?) told me he was from Microsoft and that my computer was expecting a virus anytime and that I needed to follow his directions (or something like that). He asked me if my computer as on? I did not tell him yes or no, but he probably could hear the gal shouting out the BINGO numbers from the Best Casino site I am now hooked on... I just kept saying, "What?" "You are from where?" "Hey, how do I even know you are who you say you are?" " What did you want again?" The guy was so frustrated with me that he hung up. You could tell that he was calling from a call center and that I was probably being taped. I hope I was and that he tought I was a total dingbat and would just take me off his list. I guess if he never calls back then my acting confused and stupid paid off for me. I have signed up for all the "Do Not Call" lists and they work most of the time, but there will always be the next crop of crazies that want to get your money. About all you can do is report them. Your best defense is to just lie through your teeth to them and then tell them "NO" to any requests for money. Sometimes it's just best to hang up on them.
I keep getting calls from this guy too. Other numbers beginning with 999 are also so-called computer calls where they ask you to go to the computer and run an application. Not good.
Same story as above - I asked them to please take me out of their database. They called back about an hour later and I answered and said "you need to take me off your list; I am not interested and on the do not call list." The Indian guy proceeded to say "How are you darling, how are you baby, I want to F>CK you." This is outrageous.
Amy,That's exactly what you want to do if they ever call again. If you repeat what they say and keep saying "what?" trust me, they will hang up on you and probably take you off their list. If you think about it, each call to them is potential money and if you are playing with them, you are wasting their (not to mention your) time. Good Luck..
Caller had an Indian accent, there was load chatter in back ground like a call center, caller identified her self as being from "technical services of Microsoft's international com service". She claimed they were getting "suspicious" messages from my computer and that it would crash within the next half an hour. My computer was off at the time and I just couldn't believe that Microsoft had a center in India that monitored the millions of personal PCs and noted which ones appeared to have code problems.
