Same story. An indian person I can barely understand telling me I have errors on my computer and it is going to crash. I told him I had just downloaded a new antivirus program and he said this is not a virus, it is an infection and there is no program to prevent infections, At that point I hung up. I only answered in the first place because I have received so many calls from them that I was trying to stop the calls.
I GOT THIS MAN WITH AN INDIAN ACCENT LEAVING VOICEMAILS ON MY HOME PHONE LINE WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO BE A BLOCKED NUMBER.
I've been getting these calls also. Next time they call I am going to play along and see how long I can string out the call... I'll play dumb = like ask what is CTRL key, how do I turn it on, my screen is blank is it a virus, should I call a tech guy, etc, and just play with their mind... I may do the old trick of saying wait a minute while I go to my computer and just leave the phone off the hook until they hang up.... we need to go on offense with these type of calls!
I got the same calls which I did not answer for a long time ... two days ... and when I did answer after reading the above chain, several times I got dead air for three seconds, then a recorded voice saying "Goodbye". Finally when I answered a guy in India went through the his introduction after which I simply said ... "I'm 71 and don't have a computer ... I don't understand how Microsoft is contacting me". His reponse: "oh, no problem, thank you, bye" and the call stopped. Try that or tell them you have an Apple so how does Microsoft know about you.
Me too. Stalled him while I looked up his number on the internet. Found you guys had the same issue. Hung up on him. March 27, 2012
i keep getting calls for 999-910-0122. I finally answered, but no one was there.I am on a do not call list, but obviously it doesn't seem to matter.
You can purchase a land line phone (one that's connected in your house, not a cell phone) that has the ability to block 20 phone numbers. They cost less than $100, generally around 50 or 60 bucks.I have one and block calls all the time. When a blocked number calls, the phone rings once or twice and then automatically disconnects the caller. After it's reached the maximum of 20 blocked numbers, I just start over again because the first numbers I blocked have already given up and stopped calling.
