Portfolio Recovery Associates . . . These bottom feeders are trying to collect on a closed account with Bank of America that is 13 years years old and isn't even mine. I disputed it 13 years ago and it was dropped. Now these scavengers own it and woke me up out of a dead sleep at 8:39AM when I had FINALLY fallen asleep just 3 hours prior. I like the whistle idea; it's VERY loud so whoever is calling will have to hang up in order to avoid hearing damage, AND . . it's technically legal. You can also purchase a digital device from Radio Shack for $15 that emits an EXTREMELY piercing, annoying, irritating electronic sound for 90 seconds.
Oh these effers again, they called me at 8am this morning, they have been calling me for four years straight. I don't owe anyone anything and because I have a common surname they think they can call and wake me at all hours? Hey Portfolio, maybe I should sign some of your execs up at various porn sites like I did last time, I still have your emails you effers.
I have a cell phone from my employer. They are chasing him over an old bogus debt (his last name is Jones for crissakes, what do they do, just run their fingers down the white pages?) and have been calling MY cell phone which, although is issued by my employer, *I* pay for out of my payroll check. I have been told that's VERY illegal and that I could get the FCC to step in at this point, but I don't know what to do. I too get the calls at all hours of the day and night, including 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning! Got a call one night at 9:45 from a local number, answered it thinking it was family and it was them! When I yelled at them about calling me after 9:00, she very smarmily said "It's only a little after 7 where I'm at so it's legal". I'm afraid I used language with her at that point which the FCC would also find illegal. Long short, these people will lie to you...they tell you that because they recently bought the debt that they have restarted the clock. Another firm is attempting to collect from me against a foreclosure that occurred almost 20 years ago, and when I told them the debt was out of date they said they can keep selling it to little companies they form just for that purpose for the rest of my life, and when I die they'll take my life insurance from my kids hands. If you are reading this and you work for a company like this you are nothing but a vampire...a buzzard...carrion eater...unclean...
I never pick up if I don't recognize the number on caller ID. Instead it goes to my voicemail. I have the following greeting on it. "If I don't know you, leave your first and last name, your home telephone number, your home address, your social security number, your mother's maiden name. If you have children, leave their names and the school they attend. I'll deal with you later." Really cuts down on telemarketers. If someone is dumb enough to leave the info I maintain none traceable emails and phones plus mailboxes. I'll go out and get a pocket full of credit cards. If they are close enough to drive to...well I just might visit.
They called on a debit from 2002. told them they are PAST the statue since they never took any legal action they are past the statue.
These a holes call me at exactly 8 am twice a week! I'm going to catch the call, one of these days, and tell them not to call anymore, since the debt is past the statute of limitations for my state. Then I'll keep track of their harassment and sue them!
Hey, Rick (rhymes with so many apropos things), the bill THIS "scumbag" didn't pay is nothing I even recognize as owing! So, suck a fat one.
