Called the number back and got Amazon Customer Service. They were very helpful but they had no idea why someone called. They said they would never call about an order, they would only contact me by email. Not sure how the person that originally called knew I had just placed an Amazon order but do not answer this number. Definitely a scam pretending to be Amazon.
Was having problems with getting order through bank, Amazon called to help with problem.
FFS. This seems to be a real call from amazon fraud department. The problem is they called without telling me. So I didnt answer (as a precaution). Then I googled the number. Then I called them. And they asked for my name, email.. I gave that. Then they asked for my address.. Then I became unsure if the review here were correct. So I signed in and contacted chat. Chat said they called me, and need to recall. Chat asked for my number. Then a different number called, but same area code. 2069220865. The guy asked for my email twice. Then he said he doesnt have clearance to help me because my account is locked, and I have to talk to a specialist. And that will take 24 hours. FFS!! AZ locked my account because I made a big purchase - then they called me with and unknown number - so I didnt answer. They reset my email to an old one. Locked my pass. I had to reset by old email. I've talked to chat 3 times. Now I reordered. And its still processing. It's taking 3 hours to fix... AZ if you read this: If you need to confirm orders then send us email alerts to tell us to expect a call from #. Otherwise we are suspicious of your call.
He calld to verify purchase of books on Amazon, knew the last 4 digits of my card. I said it was unauthorized and have called my bank to block and cancel the card.
Follow up, it was Amazon who called to warn that my account was hacked from another site and gave me the heads up about the possible fraud on my card. Thanks Amazon!
