It is Customer Service for Amazon. This is a legitimate number and when they return your call if you have requested help, it is what show upon the caller ID.
Lol. Hard to believe that people still think that everything on Amazon is fulfilled by Amazon themselves. Sellers can sell from Amazon, you bought from them. Simple as that. You have not heard one word because they are too busy laughing at you.
I have gotten 2 calls from this number in the last four days, both times I was at work and messages were left. The person leaving the message did not speak English well and could not be understood on either message, though I did make out the word Amazon in the first message. Funny thing is, I had not contacted Amazon for anything and am wondering why they would be calling me. I tried calling the number back but did not press any options because I was concerned it was a scam. Still not sure.
I received 2 calls from this number back to back. I answered the 2nd call and they were calling to answer my issue about selling online through amazon (I had opened a claim about a question a few hours earlier). She addressed my concerns and less than 5 minutes after getting off the phone with them, I received an email from amazon seller services summarizing what was said during the call and if I had any more issues, to call or message them back
Yep, this is a legitimate amazon callback number, because I requested a phone call from amazon, and it immediately came through on this number. It's entirely possible that scammers could SPOOF this phone number, just like they spoof any other phone number they want to spoof. I'm leaving the "call type" box below as "unknown", as there is no option to mark it as "legitimate call back from Amazon which I requested".
Glad ya asked. I checked my caller ID later for calls, and since I did not take note of the number when it came in, I was not sure which number it was for, so I looked it up. Any other questions?
For me, this was a legitimate callback from Amazon following an online request for technical support regarding an account issue I had. This callback was critical in regaining access to my account, and the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently by their support tech (who sounded like he was in a call center in India, but offshoring tech support is not uncommon these days). No option to select "Legitimate / Known caller" in the Call type selector below, so left as "Unknown" (the default).
