when I answered the phone he identified himself as a Microsoft Tech Support. he had a heavy accent, very hard to understand. He said I had a virus problem. I told him I do not have any computer that is hooked up to the Internet. He asked if my name was Edward. I said yes but repeated I don't have a computer hooked to the Internet. As I was still talking he hung up.
Got some woman, who sounded like she was straight out of a boiler room operation in India. Accent so thick, hard to understand. 'Microsoft', 'viruses', yada yada. I'm thinking, sure. The real Microsoft charges you. They don't call you out of the blue to offer to 'fix' your computer!!Caller ID read 'California'.
Just got that call from 209-631-2059. Said they were from Microsoft Windows and my computer was sending them messages and they would help me delete the problem. They wanted me to go to my computer and log on. I said I cannot get to my computer right now, then they said something unintelligible in another language, apparently to another person. I hung up. SCAM!
Keep getting call from PADPAD ESPERANZ which is what show up on the caller ID. Calling about my computer. I just said Huh and hung up. This is a scam and they keep calling even though my number is on the do not call list. It's coming from a call center. I can hear the commotion in the background. Claims he from Windows Security.
I just got off the phone with this person. I was trying to have some fun but he wouldn't let me! Called and said, in his very thick accent, that he was calling from HP Windows and that my home computer was sending back that it has a horrible virus. I said, which company are you calling from HP or Microsoft? Then he said he was from Windows. (I was laughing at him by this point) Continued to tell me that my computer has a horrible virus and all my files are corrupted and they need to fix it. I said, which computer I have many? He said my home computer. I told him that was interesting seeing as I work in IT and I don't have any viruses on my computer and I would know if I did as I have many anti-virus programs running at all times. He hung up on me before I could finish...
I got a call this number too. Guy with a heavy accent saying he was Microsoft. Said he could prove it. Sounded like a boiler room then wanted me to use Teamviewer to get on my PC. I pretty much knew...
I got a call from this number at 5:30am. I looked at the caller ID and it said PAD PAD ESPERANZA and I didn't answer it. I called the number back and the I heard a message that number I called is not a working number. These are scammers. I will answer the next time they call and tell them that the phone company is tapping my phone because of a stalker and if they don't mind the call is being reported. That should get me off their list.
I had received an email that was a phishing scam. Said I needed to verify my Outlook account right away or I would be locked out. I told Microsoft about it and then this same company called me...something is fishy and it seems here we go again with Microsoft security issues...leaking information to fraudsters. This guy who could barely speak English called me and said he was from Microsoft. Said that he was going to help me because my machine was full of viruses. I was suspicious and asked him if I could call him. He said I did not need to because he can prove that He is from Microsoft because he had proprietary information because of my windows account. He knew my computer ID and IP. I told him that it did not prove anything. He wanted me to pull up Teamviewer so he could show me the issues and why computer was moving slow. It was fine until this snipe called me. I told him Microsoft would not use Teamviewer and told him I did not believe him and I hung up. My virus software says my computer is running fine...all systems are good. I running some more scans and a tool from Microsoft to see if I can clean this up completely.
