This is a legitimate number from Citibank fraud department, specifically regarding a credit application for a Best Buy/Citibank credit card.
Called at 6:03 am in the morning. I get multiple calls a day from numbers all over the USA. I don't answer any of them. I google the number and block. Yesterday I had 8 calls.
This is legit. It's from CitiBank Credit Card dept. I called back via the # on the back of my credit card instead and confirmed.Since the caller display # can be manipulated, I suggest you call the number at the back of your credit card for this type of leave message. They should always leave a clear message on the credit card concerned.
Got a message from this number claiming to be from Citi Cards and asking me to call them and give them my card number. I hadn't even received my new card yet, so I called the number on Citi's website and it was a legit call from them.
In this case it WAS a legitimate call from Citibank Visa. The number they requested me to call back was in fact the one on the back of my Visa card. I suspect fraudsters are spoofing the Caller ID knowing this is a number used by Citibank.
They called saying they were fraud department best buy and wanted my dad to call another number back with reference number..he called it and that number said they didn't have any Information about anything.
Got call from guy who asked if I opened a Citibank card, seemed legit at first(as good con artist do).As things went on got a greater sense he was trying to can trust & us logic until I got a call back...that is when they try to hook you. Scams are very sophisticated now and so are electronic & software. Asking me to call another number & giving a long # is BS. I feel bad that some of the people that think this is legit, may of been spoofed or are yet to have their identities stolen. Please BEWARE & be skeptical of all unsolicited calls & emails!!
