This is a real number!! I read these and thought it was fraud, too. Received a call on 9/7 from Best Buy fraud department about "recent activity on your account". Since I have not stepped foot into a Best Buy store let alone have a Best Buy credit card, I thought it was fraud and people trying to get my info. I did not call back. Lo and behold, yesterday I receive "my" new Best Buy credit card in the mail. Someone stole my identity and opened the account, charging thousands of dollars. Had I answered, this person could have been caught. UGH.
Received a call from them about a Best Buy application which I have not applied for. They gave a number to call back 888-908-0031. I did not try that number. This is fraud.
Well this was legit in my case. I didn't call the # they left me but called the # on my card and guess what....my card was compromised. Citi is with several different companies so it is possible that all the different companies they say they are with are legit! Common sense is to not give your information out over the phone! So don't! Call the number you know is correct and talk to them. That will let you know if it is a scam or not! Mine was definitley NOT SCAM!
Got a call on a Sunday night from this number. Message said someone was trying to apply for a Citibank card in my name. Left a number to call. Not the same number they were calling from. Called the number Monday morning...it is a copier service and supply company??
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION - its a scam. They asked me repeatedly for my 9-digit social security number and my credit card number before they could give me any information. We only have one credit card and I called them and they told me this number is a scam and there is nothing wrong with my account.
Got a call from this number today on my cell phone which I let roll over to voicemail. The message they left claimed they were CitiBank, yada yada yada. Here's the deal: I have never given CitiBank my cell number. I will investigate further, but I smell a phish.
