Received call for past two days, each leaving a voicemail (one which I could only just barely understand). Claiming to be working on behalf of my current employer, where I have been for the past five months. They're asking me to provide a W2 for a temporary gig I had last year. I'm just going to ignore them, as it seems to me that Sterling are asking me to do their job for them. If my employer takes issue with that, they can come to me directly.

Left voicemail. Called to get background info about someone that listed me as a reference while she was job hunting. She already has the job (for a few weeks), so not sure why I am now getting this call.

Garbage calls from India trying to steal information

Call came in at 2:15 A.M. Recording left was barely legible. Absolutely NO reason for this call to be coming in. Will let it go at that!

Very annoying Indian guy. Repeat calls about verification of employment.

Third party company verifying references for employment. Asked a few questions, but nothing identifiable aside from the guys name. Marked it as survey since it isn't really any of the listed options. Legit call.

I didn't receive a call from them, but I did get a charge on my business checking account for $30.45 with this phone number as the reference. I've never heard of them, nor have I ever used their service. Card being cancelled. No idea how they got my credit card number.

I have applied to a company that uses Sterling for background checks and employment verification. After filling out their extrordinarily long online form, they now want me to send them copies of w-2 and pay-stubs. None of their business. I wrote back telling them I had given them the name , phone, and e-mail of the company and that I no longer have the documents they request. I intend to tell the hiring officer that this Sterling company wants more information from me than the US government wanted for a secureity clearance. Obviously Sterling wants me to do their job for them. If what I read here is correct, the 3rd world workers for Sterling have more than enough info for a rousing string of identity thefts. I don't need the job that badly.

Called for an employment verification

Got a call from an Indian woman asking to speak to someone about employment verification. I asked them which employee they were calling about since we have a few department managers that handle that. She gave me a name, I told her I was going to transfer her to that employee's manager but she hung up while I was trying to transfer her. Then I looked on here & saw that they suck. If she wants the info, she'll have to call back & not hang up when I try to transfer her. I'm the gate keeper; she's not getting anyone's direct line.
